@LuffmanRic81200 @KJA_mfc Yeah sure i got you. Different competitions have different rules. If it’s allowed somewhere, fine. But in this case the issue is simple: it wasn’t allowed, and Saints got caught doing it. Serious or not depend on how the commitee see suitable. I am only think penalty is a must.😉
English

@LuffmanRic81200 @KJA_mfc not allowed to do in Championship. I only say it to compare if it is not allow in would cup as comparison. You should have know that.
English

@ChrisPen1980 Take boro and result out of picture and what Saint staff did still wrong. It broke the rules. As simple as that. Without that no other consequences woild happen.

Can't win over two games and 230 mins because one lad had an iPhone. Utter bellends.

@MattWhittle3 @Boropolis Dude. You need to take emotional away and see the two thing are separate matter. Boro lose to you and that is the fact. Saint cheat and that is the fact. If they kicked out and be replace by next team that happen everywhere in sport. All you are trying is to fill you anger.
English

@FlynnJonas2 Yeah. It is for everyone. I just don’t know who you support when i comment. I only exchange my pov and hope that is ok.

Never before have I seen such beggars ….
And that includes a team that actually stole from charities….

@SPhiama @LeighCurtis_DT You’re right mate.
I think if EFL had slapped a £2million fine on Saints straight away (whilst allowing for appeal etc) I doubt any of this fuss would’ve happened. They’ve allowed footy media to fill a quiet week with ever more speculation to get everyone worked in to a frenzy.
English

I watched the first leg and Boro should have blitzed Southampton. Was the spy's message to try to let Boro have a headstart? It's naughty and it should be punished, but kicking a team out of the playoffs after a two-legged game that went to extra time, by the way, is absurd.
Middlesbrough FC@Boro
A statement from the club.
English

@L1minus10 Boro’s form and league position don’t really change whether a rule was broken though. Saints fans keep going back to “you weren’t good enough” while avoiding the separate issue of why there’s even a hearing in the first place.
English

In danger of somehow coming out of this looking worse than #saintsfc, which takes some doing😂
I wonder if they'll go after the other teams they didn't beat in this 2 wins out of 13 run they're on. Keep that form up next season they'll be looking over their shoulder at League 1

BREAKING: Middlesbrough say Southampton should not take part in Championship play-off final after being charged with spying ahead of semi-final first leg between clubs.
English

@SaintsDanSFC Hull being promoted would make even less sense because they weren’t involved at all. If a team is ruled ineligible after a knockout tie, the opponent progressing is the normal sporting outcome, whether people emotionally like it or not.
English

I hope they don't take our place though, I hope Hull City are promoted to the Premier League and that's the end of it. They can't get their own way because they lost over two legs of football. You lost end of...

Went from 2nd (for ages) to 5th!
Beaten over 210 mins.
Didn’t buy a striker.
Can’t convert chances.
SFC have accepted the charge and are attending the Independent Review.
But apparently in ‘intern’ with an iPhone is to blame bcos they didn’t make the Prem?
😂😂

Match of the Day@BBCMOTD
Middlesbrough are demanding that Southampton are kicked out of the Championship play-offs over spying allegations.
English

@Puel_Out @jamiehuds94 Yeah that’s pretty much where I am with it too tbh. I lived in Southampton for 6 years, been to The Dell and St Mary’s, so I genuinely do feel bad for the fans with how this whole thing has blown up. Just a stupid situation all round.
English

@SPhiama @jamiehuds94 I don’t think it’s meaningless either. They wouldn’t have done it if it’s meaningless (assuming he wasn’t a lone wolf) but on the other hand, it couldn’t have THAT much impact. Certainly not over the 2 legs. Just stupid and embarrassing for the club.
English

Yes we spied yes we will be punished but what they are asking for doesn’t make sense
Leeds 200,000 fine 2019
Canada woman’s team 2024 6pts deduction
Southampton thrown out of a 200million plus game of football seems crazy
6-8pts3-5million fine should be outcome #saintsfc
English

@TommyCockles8 @LeighCurtis_DT I think we probably just differ on where the line for a sporting remedy should be. But I get the distinction you’re making now.
English

@SPhiama @LeighCurtis_DT Ok. I’m defining victim relative to proposed compensation of being reinstated into a massive match
In this case their status as victim isn’t even close
Like the ‘victim’ of a drink driver being one who pulled out in causing them to slightly decelerate. Fine the drink driver
English

@Puel_Out @jamiehuds94 To me, the debate around proportionality is fair. I’m honestly okay with whatever judgement the commission reaches now, I just don’t agree with those who pretending the issue itself is meaningless.
English

@SPhiama @jamiehuds94 That’s what most have been doing. Hardly anyone is denying someone from the club spied. Clearly did. Club aren’t even contesting the charge. It’s the disproportionate level of expected punishment.
English

@TommyCockles8 @LeighCurtis_DT You’re defining “victim” too narrowly though. In sport it’s not only about proving exact goals or results changed. A team can still be the affected party if their preparation and competitive privacy were intentionally targeted before a playoff semi-final.
English

@SPhiama @LeighCurtis_DT I think Boro have time to seek compensation directly from Saints, probably out of court. And they will.
I believe this is why they’re taking such an OTT position - to boost that settlement. And I kind of get that.
Fans going along with the hyperbole are a mere byproduct.
English

@saintbannerman You’re still arguing the outcome instead of the conduct though. “We still drew/lost” doesn’t automatically make the alleged attempt okay. And if nobody thought there was enough concern or evidence, there wouldn’t even be a hearing in the first place.
English

Drew 0.0 away in the game we 'cheated' in. (Just a pic with a kid with a phone, no proof he was 'sent' by #saintsfc & no proof he videoed or took a photo)
Won the game at home 2.1 in the game we didnt 'cheat' in. But, we should be expelled for gaining an advantage? Seems legit.
