📣 Did you have your SQA results downgraded in 2021? Were you told that you couldn't appeal your results, or if you did appeal, it was unsuccessful? Please send us a DM if you're happy to anonymously share your experience

We've joined @OfficialSYP, @CYPCS and a list of others to call on @sqanews to have another think about the appeals process planned for this year, it's got to be fair, rights respecting and have learners at the centre. The current plan doesn't.
Scottish Youth Parliament@OfficialSYP

We’ve joined other charities and academics to write an open letter to @sqanews to call on them to reconsider the appeals process published last week. There’s still time to change this, and give young people a fair chance to appeal. Read the letter: bit.ly/3w2jk3B

Interesting that I was asked this during my BBC radio interview today. It’s not the fault of young people that they had exams that weren’t exams sprung on them, and working with a deeply unfair system. This is a non-issue which deflects from the real problems we face.

Can the SQA papers still be used by teachers after being leaked on TikTok and Discord? Asks @BeatriceWishart . If they can’t the only meaningful support provided by SQA is no longer available , she says

Check this out from a young person who was involved in the #SQAappeals consultation process 👇🏻 I would expect a statement from @sqanews soon which commits to actively listening to pupils in future - otherwise, at this rate, what is even the point of an exams-based system at all?
Cameron Garrett@Cameron_1702

As the only young person who sits on and @sqanews’s NQ21 group and the only member representing young people, I have not had an equal input into discussions around the appeals process this year at NQ group meetings. Young people have been let down and ignored by this process.

Disappointed to put it mildly with the news from the SQA that there will be no chance to appeal because of exceptional circumstances. A year when there has been adversity in every corner for young people. This is blatant insult to those struggling over the past 18 months. 1/3

When I attended a discussion with the SQA on exam cancellation in November last year, I explained, amongst other things, my real concerns on the differences between local authorities due to the lack of a structured approach. I wasn’t listened to. Young people weren’t listened to.

Seeing @sqanews talk about listening to us but then doing the opposite is disappointing to say the least. @OfficialSYP, @CYPCS and @SQAOurSay have been working so hard to get young people be heard, getting nothing in return. Read the statement below: syp.org.uk/appeals-proces…

If true co-production/co-design was happening as often as it is (inaccurately) mentioned, children and young people would be far better off right now. Sadly, the power shift required to make that happen still feels a long way off.
Bruce Adamson@Bruce_Adamson

Some very strange examples of “co-production” being discussed at the moment. If you have very limited involvement of young people and then ignore their views, you can’t call it co-production just because they were in the room.

Some of the quotes from myself from yesterday’s #WheresOurSay session with @CYPCS. Young people should be given a voice, and helped to project it by mainstream media, to ensure it is heard loud and clear that we need a fair @sqanews 2021 result and appeal process.
