GOVERNOR UBA SANI, THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH US. NOW JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL FOR THE SLAUGHTERED HAUSA YOUTHS IN MANGU We sincerely commend His Excellency, Governor @ubasanius, for his timely and courageous visit to sympathize with the victims of the recent bloodbath in Mangu. Your presence was not just symbolic—it was a powerful reminder that our lives matter, and that the murder of these innocent people will not be ignored. But, Your Excellency, while your compassion brought hope, we urge you and all northern leaders to push forcefully for one thing: JUSTICE. This cannot be reduced to another tragic headline. What happened in Mangu was not an accident—it was a calculated act of ethnic and religious genocide. According to the narrator, once the attackers confirmed that the victims were Hausa Muslims, they reportedly roared in unison: “Let’s kill them all! Burn them alive!” That is exactly what they did. The bus was set ablaze from both the front and rear. The driver was the first to be killed. As the fire engulfed the vehicle, anyone who dared escape the flames was brutally beaten to death and thrown back into the inferno. Human beings were burned like animals. This man, by a miracle of God, survived. He had stepped down from the bus briefly to inquire about directions. When the attack began, he quickly removed his jallabiya, disguised himself in his inner singlet and shorts, and melted into the crowd. An Okada rider helped him to a military checkpoint, because he told him he had a case he need their help. He didn't disclose he was one of thr victims. He might not have survived too. It was his alert that brought the military to the scene—their intervention saved the few who had not yet been consumed by the fire. This was a massacre. A targeted, hate-filled, genocidal massacre. It must not go unpunished. We call on Governor Uba Sani to continue leading the charge and ensure that justice is pursued relentlessly. We call on the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government to arrest and prosecute these terrorists without delay. Let them rot in prison. Let the law speak with thunder. @CalebMutfwang @officialABAT The youth that were murdered in Mangu were not criminals. They were sons, brothers, and friends, slaughtered for no reason other than their identity. We will not forget. We will not keep quiet. And we will not stop until justice is done. #PlateauDenOfKillers

A MUST READ: “A PRESIDENT AND A COMRADE” Sunshine fell in Kaduna when President Tinubu warmed into Kaduna. His host, Uba Sani, the chief executive of Kaduna State, is often called Comrade by President Tinubu. A few days earlier, the president had conferred a June 12 honour on Governor Sani. Both were in the trenches. Governor Sani was a fighter of the stay-at-home order. He was with Gani Fawehinmi and others who fought here. He fought in the South and in the North. He was arrested, and some had wondered why he, a northerner, would delve into a Yoruba struggle when he could enjoy the comfort of a feudal patriarchy. Sani would none of that. He fought and he saw neither North nor South. He saw Nigeria. He was arrested quite a few times and suffered beatings and torture. He was with the Committee For the Defence of Human Rights, of which I was the founding secretary under Beko Ransome-Kuti. Uba Sani was a  warrior with the Campaign for Democracy. He studied engineering and business administration in Kaduna and the University of Calabar, where he bagged his master’s degree, a hint of his liberal and metropolitan spirit. In the wee hours, Abacha’s goons stormed his home and whisked him in his underwear into a van and zoomed off.  No one knew who took him or where they were taking him. He might have disappeared, and in fact, he feared they might make him disappear that night.  The van took him to a dingy jail of criminals, and there he remained underground, no contact with friends, relatives or members of the struggle until the Abacha regime fell. That was his saving grace. The president once praised him as a man who stood here at home to fight the bear – my words.  So, when they met last week, memories conjoined. thenationonlineng.net/a-president-an…

THE KILLERS OF KADUNA STATE CITIZENS IN MANGU LG OF PLATEAU STATE MUST BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE We received with shock and deep sorrow news of the killing of 12 Kaduna State citizens in the troubled Mangun District of Mangu Local Government, Plateau State. 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries. The innocent travellers met their deaths while traveling to Quan Pan Local Government of Plateau State for a wedding ceremony. We condemn in the strongest terms these acts of savagery. The criminals must be fished out and dealt with accordingly. We call on security agencies to leave no stone unturned until these criminal elements are hunted down and brought to justice. We must put a stop to the nefarious activities of non-state actors. There is no justification for anybody to attack any citizen of Nigeria in any part of the country. This madness must stop. Enough is enough. I also call on the Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang to use this unfortunate incident to make a bold statement. He must take full charge of the situation and direct the operations of the security agencies until the murderers are brought to justice. I will personally follow up on the progress made in the investigations and field operations in search of the criminals. We must send a clear signal that impunity will no longer be tolerated. Let me use this opportunity to call on the citizens of Kaduna State to remain calm. All hands are on deck to ensure that our murdered citizens get justice. We have made remarkable progress in peace building and conflict transformation in Kaduna State. The Kaduna Peace Model is a pointer to the fact that with political will, commitment and sincerity of purpose, a toxic environment can be turned to an "oasis of peace". The situation in Plateau State is not irredeemable. The bloodshed must stop. Our deepest condolences to the families of our citizens who lost their precious lives in Mangu Local Government. I am in touch with the families of the victims. We shall do all in our power to lessen their pains. We shall also ensure that the injured victims receive adequate medical attention. May the gentle souls of our departed citizens rest in perfect peace. Senator Uba Sani, CON Governor, Kaduna State. June 21st, 2025
