@unMaskedRogue @ColdEmpanadas Not just less bad, MUCH better. 4 times less land use, half of the CO2 emissions, way less animals abused/killed Veganism is about harm reduction, not elimination, which is impossible Why are you arguing so strongly against making a positive impact on animals/the environment?

@SSAbesM @ColdEmpanadas Veganism is not good for the planet. It’s just less bad. Less bad ≠ good. Agricultural practices that have nothing to do with meat production are still causing climate change and species extinction.

@unMaskedRogue @ColdEmpanadas Who told you that? You need like 20 times the soy production to produce a burger compared to eating soy directly. The much lower crop production inherently leads to a reduction in human exploitation, as veganism is inherently more efficient. Veganism is very good for the climate

@SSAbesM @ColdEmpanadas Food grown for animals doesn’t involve anywhere near the amount of human exploitation that food grown for human consumption does. We could all go vegan and agriculture would still be destroying the climate and people would still be dying on farms every day.

@unMaskedRogue @ColdEmpanadas The vegan diet leads to a huge reduction in crop production, as animals are feds large amounts of crops. Going vegan objectively leads to a huge reduction in exploitation and land destruction. The meat eating diet generally requires four times the land use of the vegan diet

@SSAbesM @ColdEmpanadas No, it’s not necessary, for anything other than to protect wealthy, mostly American, business owners and shareholders. Same reason nearly all agriculture is destructive and exploitative, even when it doesn’t produce meat.

@unMaskedRogue @LME_199 @ColdEmpanadas None of what I said is wrong. Animals all over the world are artificially inseminated and selectively bred. Farmers will continue to physically abuse their livestock as long as they are economically rewarded for it Never claimed to be superior to anyone. Just stating facts

@LME_199 @SSAbesM @ColdEmpanadas See, I think if you actually cared about animals, you’d want to know about farming practices around the world so that when you talked to meat eaters outside of America, you didn’t come across as an ignorant holier than thou asshat.

@unMaskedRogue @ColdEmpanadas 75% of land animals worldwide are factory farmed. Animals which are not are still abused btw. They are artificially inseminated, selectively bred, which leads to many health issues, physically abused and brutally slaughtered. None of this is necessary for our survival

@Thepastelbutch What does you being vegetarian have to do with you being factually wrong about the vegan diet? Animal husbandry just means animal farming. You're not going to feed 8B people without animal farming. The meat industry will always be inherently unsustainable and cruel to animals

As a lifelong ethical vegetarian and eco-activist, veganism is a shit practice that harms more than it helps. Some of the best sustainability practices we can do is support our local food sources, which you typically cannot do in a nutritionally complete way as a vegan.

Stop using indigenous people to diminish veganism.

@bintalshamsa Most land is destroyed for meat production and the crop production required to feed livestock. The vegan diet leads to way less land use than the meat eating diet by far. And that's not to mention the billions of animal victims which are tortured and killed by the meat industry

Colonizer vegans say shit like this while helping their meat-eating brethren kill us and destroy our lands. They will do ANYTHING to avoid questions about how industrial plant ag and industrial animal ag operate as one.

@paulswaney3 Moquitos are mostly killed by insecticides. As meat production requires huge crop productions to feed lifestock, going vegan leads to a large reduction in mosquito deaths! Just say you like burgers and don't care about the animals, cause these arguments are hilariously bad 💀

@666_slut You can say what you want, but it won't change the facts 🤷 The vegan diet leads to way less deforestation, CO2 emissions and animal abuse and killing. That is the scientific consensus whether that fits your agenda or not

@SSAbesM to clarify, this is not to say don't go for veganism or reduced meat diet. the point is that simply just being vegan does little to reduce your impact on the environment if you're just buying all of your products from corporations

the way yall are parroting the same genocidal language that has been used against native people for centuries omg... why is the choice between adhering to western lifeways or death???
Rishi Dihydrogen Monoxide@MonoxideRishi

@oodhamboi if "just surviving" involves murdering sentient creatures, then die. presumably you wouldn't support "just surviving" if the the indigenous were eating a different group of humans. but all of this is a distraction from the fuckton on animals being factory farmed for burgers.

@ColdEmpanadas 99% of meat comes from factory farms, so it makes sense to talk about that instead of "chickens in a yard", no? Either way, if you defend animals being abused or killed at all when it is not necessary for our survival, you are defending cruelty 🤷

@SSAbesM y'all always talk about factory farming as if it's the only way to keep animals. because you know how silly it sounds to call it an atrocity to have chickens wandering around in the yard

@666_slut The biggest contributor to deforestation by far is beef. Then soy, which is mostly fed to livestock. Then, palm oil, which is in tons of non-vegan foods and some is fed to livestock, so going vegan wouldn't impact your palm oil intake significantly. The harm reduction is huge 🤷

@SSAbesM well yes and I generally eat locally sourced animal products bc of this reason. but as someone who works in conservation, vegan "super foods" are one of the biggest contributors to habitat loss globally. palm oil in particular is disastrous and found in sooo many vegan products

@666_slut Which is why I said it is wrong IF you don't need it to survive! Veganism is about harm reduction, not elimination, which would be impossible rn. Vegan food contributes WAY less to those issues than animal products due to the huge crop production required to feed farm animals

@SSAbesM well good thing we're talking about people who are doing it to survive, and going about it in sustainable ways I myself eat a reduced meat diet but it's ignorant to claim veganism is without cruelty when it isnt separated from capitalism. it still contributes to these issues too

@666_slut You cannot feed 8 billion people via hunting. In terms of food, the animal food industry is responsible for the vast majority of deforestation, habitat loss and slave labor Abusing and killing animals is wrong if you don't need it to survive

ntm hunting and using all parts of the animal is way more sustainable than so many of these vegan products whose ingredients are harvested via slave labor, destroying forests, and contributing to habitat loss and animal endangerment
