St Stephen’s Design & Technology Department

Today our S3 Design and Manufacture class visited @BAESystemsplc Ship Building Academy. They tackled two hands on challenges. The first was a fabrication task involving nuts and bolts being fitted to a specification. The second was a pipefitting challenge. Great fun @StStephensHS

Today the talented 2B seen the fruits of the hard work over the past couple of months. They analysed their brief, created a design specification before.producong some thumbnail plans for these amazing cupcake boxes. They used PagePlus DTP software to produce them. @StStephensHS

Last night Mr Murray's family were invited to join our school community for a memorial mass. This provided an opportunity for friends, colleagues and pupils of Paul to come together and remember him. Fr Jonathan also blessed a memorial bench build by Mr Macqueen and Mr Stewart

Congratulations to this year's winner of the Paul Murray Memorial Award, Woodworker of the Year. Finlay is a very deserving recipient of this award, which was given for showing commitment and working hard throughout the year and having a respectable and mature attitude.🏆

Our S3 Design and Manufacture class had a very enjoyable and insightful visit to @DalesMarine Greenock. We had a great tour of the Yard, led by Charles and our former Head Boy Lucas, who is thriving in his new role. Pupils could see the skills that they are learning in action

This is an opportunity to for anyone whose life was touched by Mr Murray to remember him.

On Sunday Mr Cox, Ms Morgan, Miss Reilly and Mr Stewart spent time with Mr Murray's family and friends, as they walked in his favourite park. They gathered to remember the good times shared with him and to present the winner of the Sunflower Cup. RIP Mr Murray. Forever missed.

Our Higher Design and Manufacture pupils planned and ran the Technical Department stand at the Port Glasgow Community campus Inverclyde STEM festival event. Their Tower challenge definitely lived up to it's name, they had lots of determined but frustrated visitors @StStephensHS

We are looking forward to our S2-S4 classes taking part in the STEM festival tomorrow at the Port Glasgow Community campus event. The event continues after school, 4pm-6pm for all members of the Port Glasgow community to come and participate. @StStephensHS @PortGlasgowHS

Our Higher Design and Manufacture class. Tackled a design task of a slightly different type today. They tested various designs for bridges and towers with the limitation of just using clothes pegs and Lollipop sticks. This task will be used for the Inverclyde STEM festival

Good luck to all of our students sitting the National 5 and Higher Graphic Communication exams tomorrow🍀🍀. You have worked hard for this and we have every faith in you. We will be around the department tomorrow morning to answer any last minute questions. @StStephensHS
