2 parade nights left of 2025 as DC. The best time I’ve had in cadets, watching o”the cadets grow has been incredible! Standout moments: reaffiliating the detachment with the RBL, working closely with our affiliated regiment, winning Detachment of the Year, and taking home a comp.
They say “ease yourself back in” after a break in routine… me? Nah. I decided a 15-mile walk was the answer 😅
Sometimes you’ve got to shock the system a bit to get back into the swing of things. Tired? Aye. Sore? Definitely. Regret it? Not a chance. 👣💪
A short announcement from me. I have resigned my commission after a total of 41 years (including my time as a cadet). The decision to go was mine and there was a feeling of relief when I had made that decision. A few folk have expressed concern, it was the right time.
@SSI_S_Elliott Keep moving forwards! There is more to life! But you have the correct mindset! I am 100% certain that you will smash the course if you wish to attempt again. Speak to Jay Turnbull.
Didn’t get the result I wanted on my Skill at Arms Instructor course.
Gutted, yeah—but not defeated. These things happen, and I’ll be back at some point.
Proud of how far I’ve come, proud of the effort I put in, and proud to keep pushing forward.
Proud night for the detachment as we became the first in the brigade to be issued RBL Affiliated Unit badges 🇬🇧
Over 20 years of affiliation, officially cemented with a visit from the Mayor & Mayoress of South Tyneside 🙌

On Thursday evening, we were visited by Northumbria Police for a valuable community session. The visit included a presentation on knife crime, raising awareness among our cadets about the dangers, consequences, and impact of carrying knives.
