It's that time of year again

🇩🇪 Germany is now considering paying Syrian refugees €8,000 each to leave voluntarily. That's 8x the current bonus. Over 900,000 Syrians live in Germany without citizenship. Do the math: if even a fraction take the deal, this gets expensive fast. But keeping them long-term costs more. The real signal here is political. Germany spent years defending its open-door policy, now its own Interior Ministry is engineering financial exits. Europe's migration debate has quietly shifted from "how do we welcome them" to "how do we encourage them to go back." The €8,000 question is whether enough Syrians, many of whom have built lives in Germany over the past decade, will take the money and leave. Source: AFP
