My 8yo daughter is going to robotics camp this week, and went super-excited off to her first day this morning. When I asked her afterwards how it was, she said, "Not too good." She is the *only girl* out of 20 kids in the camp. It is 2018. How is this real life?

And this is impact of identity on measurable metrics. Identity also affects often-immeasurable perception.
