@sherlock_comms @Donna__McLean I absolutely that corporate use of WhatsApp is always a bad idea But At a corporate level what's the alternative for immediate in line messaging that managed and reviewable....

Breaking: A person who communicated in Russian promised to pay alleged arsonists to light a series of fires targeting Keir Starmer last year, prosecutors said at the start of their trial today. Roman Lavrynovych was “recruited, instructed and promised with payment” by a person using the pseudonym ‘El Money,’ according to Telegram messages shown to the jury. “‘El Money’ communicated in Russian, in contrast to the Ukrainian otherwise used by the defendants,” the lead prosecutor said. “We have only one half of a conversation as the other side has been deleted.”

ok..... time for a friendly cyber boxing match..... online attacks vs offline attacks are very different (or are they?) example. an authentication web service (which as rate limiting etc.) let's you try X attempts per hour (low number) and offline attack with modern GPUs (clusters etc.) if you have the hash (assume unsalted I guess) let' you crack: 3 random words across the entire English dictionary in: (170k dict, space separator) ~4 hours on a single RTX 5090 GPU is the 3 random word guidance still useful? why? why not? what are the threats you are defending against? if you have a TA who has a copy of the database.... are the hashes the thing you are worrying about? or actually is the damage probably already done regardless of hash crackabillity? (that's a word, even if someone says it is not :P ) @Paul_Reviews @Chick3nman512 (and feel free to tag anyone else in) (and I know: it depends but it's a good subject)

Could it possibly be because their theiving scum who live in trash strewn shovels and turn any place they turn up to into a shithole? I one bought something off Facebook. Turned out to be a Traveller site. Rubbish everywhere, 20 dogs roaming around, dog shit all over, women in dressing gowns at lunch time, filthy kids everywhere and the thing I went to buy had "Property of Next" stamped on it.

Often described as the most vilified community in Britain, Travellers say they're facing a fight for survival – struggling to find places to stay while keeping their culture alive. @LisaatSky gains rare access inside a community often sceptical of outsiders

I've done my homework. I've thumbed through the latest scoops in The Times. I've read my Shipman. I've listened to the podcasts. I'm struggling to think of a story I've been less interested in.

The Government is lying. Last month I asked the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Darren Jones, what level of security clearance was held by Peter Mandelson. He told me I would need to ask the Foreign Office, so I did. On Thursday, an hour after the Mandelson vetting scandal story broke, The FCDO told me that Mandelson was granted Developed Vetting clearance only. 72hrs later the Times is reporting that Mandelson was in fact granted STRAP 3 clearance. Every thread that’s pulled reveals another lie this execrable Government is willing to tell to try and save Keir Starmer’s worthless premiership.

EXCLUSIVE: Lord Mandelson was given approval for the highest level of security clearance during his tenure as British ambassador to the US despite failing vetting, The Times has been told Mandelson was given access to ‘strap 3’ material, the highest level of security clearance and is reserved for information which, if leaked, would present a security risk in itself or could put intelligence sources at risk Mandelson’s appointment was announced in December 2024, despite warnings from officials about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, the American financier and paedophile, and his business links to China and Russia On January 28, UK Vetting Security advised against appointing Mandelson. While the precise reason is not clear, it is said to relate to his foreign links rather than his relationship with Epstein Robbins was informed of the assessment, determined that the risk was manageable and gave him approval for security clearance known as “developed vetting” Shortly before his appointment, Mandelson was told to formally apply for strap clearance, but was warned it could take “at least three months”. The Times has been told that it was done quickly because of the significance of his role. A government source said this was not unusual for senior positions Strap three information is shared on a “need to know” basis and as British ambassador to the US, this was likely to have included intelligence on China, Russia and other foreign powers thetimes.com/article/4e05b5…

“Did you see the news about the leaks?” “Leeks?” “Thankfully they only leaked a small portion of the secret information on that, which I know because I have DV (Developed Vetting) which means I can tell you Secret and Top Secret things if you want me to.” “I have a boyfriend.”

@BethRigby Very minor this, but I applied for an Exec Officer's role in the Foreign Office 45 years ago. The vetting process even then was above and beyond. I was told in no uncertain terms to not fly on any Russian aircraft whilst I was being vetted. They left no stone unturned. I got
