Together with Sweden, Ukraine will significantly increase its combat aviation numbers. This is an ambitious task and it must be fulfilled. A historic step has been taken now – an agreement with Sweden on Gripen fighter aircraft, and that’s a good choice. We are counting on 150 such aircraft for Ukraine, and the first are expected to arrive next year. Gripens for Ukraine are part of our security guarantees – an Air Force capable of fully protecting our skies. There has never been a combat-aviation deal of this scale for Ukraine before. This is a historic achievement. We are working to fully realize this. Thank you, Sweden!

I thank King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden for the meeting. We spoke about Sweden’s participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction. We also discussed support for the school nutrition reform being implemented in Ukraine under the patronage of First Lady Olena Zelenska. We count on Sweden’s contribution to its further implementation. I am grateful to His Majesty and to the entire people of Sweden for the humanitarian support of Ukraine and the readiness to continue it.

Today I arrive in Dublin to take over as British Ambassador. Until I have the honour of presenting my letter of credence to the President, I am just "designate". But I am delighted to get started and work to build on the excellent legacy of @PJohnstonFCDO.

The sun shone on Staffordstown Stud, Dunboyne today! 🐎 It was a pleasure to be welcomed to the stud by its owner Kirsten Rausing, and joined by its Director, champion trainer John Oxx, agent Richard Frisby, and stud manager, Paddy Maloney. Since 1991, Staffordstown has been a local employer in Meath that houses thoroughbred weanlings and yearlings. It has raised a number of champions and forms part of the rich thoroughbred tradition you’ll find in Meath. My sincere thanks to the Ambassador of Sweden to Ireland, Lina van der Weyden, for arranging the visit.

Sweden will host continued trade negotiations between the United States and the People’s Republic of China early next week. The two countries’ willingness to meet here to try to reach an agreement is a positive development. The discussions primarily concern relations between the US and the People’s Republic of China, but also have a major impact on global trade and the world economy. Protecting rules-based global trade and Sweden’s economic interests in a complicated international situation is one of the Government’s top priorities. I look forward to meeting with representatives of the US and the People’s Republic of China on Swedish soil. Welcome to Sweden!
