I have, in talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in the strongest possible terms condemned the execution of a Swedish citizen today. Responsibility for this abhorrent execution rests solely with Iran.

Sweden and the @WorldBankGroup are celebrating 75 years of partnership this year. The World Bank is the single largest channel for Swedish development assistance and a key partner in poverty reduction, economic reforms and good governance in developing countries. Sweden’s overall support to Ukraine via the World Bank will total SEK 2.8 billion in 2026. Yesterday, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade @BenjaminDousa received World Bank Managing Director of Operations Anna Bjerde in Stockholm for discussions on continued strong cooperation.

The three-day Swedish State Visit to Poland has come to an end! Sweden and Poland share a long history distinguished by social, economic and cultural ties that continue grow through their very close cooperation. The State Visit was a part of reaffirming and developing this cooperation. Highlights from the visit to Warsaw and Gdansk include two defence conferences, a conference on innovation, investment and entrepreneurship, and a seminar in the parliament on the Barnahus model. The participants also visited two museums and met with expatriate Swedes and Ukrainian refugees. The strategic partnership and continued cooperation with Poland are very important to Sweden. The countries have common views on issues concerning the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood, security in the Baltic Sea region and support to Ukraine. They also have mutual economic interests and a very active business exchange. Poland is a key trade partner, and there is great potential for deepening and developing cooperation.
