Hosting informal lunch meeting today on the #Arctic for the PSC, EEAS and the Commission. Arctic Ambassadors/Envoys from 🇸🇪, 🇫🇮 and 🇩🇰 shared their perspectives ahead of the upcoming 🇪🇺 Communication on the Arctic. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has created new priorities and the need for reinforced security considerations in the region, while retaining strong focus on environment, climate and the indigenous peoples rights.

Important and very welcome that the EU loan to Ukraine of EUR 90 billion, which we decided on at the European Council in December, and the 20th sanctions package have now finally reached the finish line after prolonged blockages by Hungary and Slovakia. As Chair of the Humanitarian Dialogue, Sweden welcomed @UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell for an exchange with Member States on strengthening support for children affected by conflict, displacement and climate shocks, and scaling up action on protection and malnutrition

Sweden is increasing its humanitarian support to Lebanon by SEK 70 million. More than 1.2 million people have been forced to flee. That is equivalent to one fifth of Lebanon’s population. Sweden’s support helps provide emergency housing, food, medical care and psychosocial support. Sweden’s support to Lebanon in 2026 now totals SEK 135 million. @UNHCRLebanon @SwedeninLB_SY

The Government’s Music Export Prize for 2025 will be awarded this Thursday! The Prize is awarded to an artist who has enjoyed international success during the preceding year and contributed to the success of Swedish music exports and a positive image of Sweden. At the awards ceremony, which will take place in the Royal Swedish Opera house’s Guldfoajén (Golden Foyer), two other prizes will be presented: the Government’s Special Prize for long-standing contributions to Swedish music exports and an Honourable Mention for achievements of particular importance to the internationalisation of Swedish music. A jury nominates and selects the winners of the various awards. The nominees include internationally successful Swedish artists and songwriters. Sweden welcomes the 10-day ceasefire that has taken effect between Lebanon and Israel. I urge the parties to take this opportunity to work towards a permanent security and peace agreement. Lasting peace requires the disarmament of Hezbollah and full respect for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity by all, including by Israel. Civilian suffering must come to an end. Sweden stands with the people of Lebanon.

For the second time since the restoration of our independence, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has come to Ukraine. A government delegation also accompanied him. I thank His Majesty for his visit and for supporting our people. Sweden is among the five largest donors in terms of support for our Armed Forces and our citizens. This is very important for our defense and resilience. Support for Ukraine and possibilities for strengthening the Air Force of Ukraine, including with Gripen aircraft, were among the key topics of the talks. We also discussed continued humanitarian support and energy assistance. Particular attention was paid to defense cooperation. Ukraine is interested in a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership that will strengthen the defense capabilities of both Ukraine and Sweden. I informed the King about Ukraine’s security agreements with countries in the Middle East and the Gulf region, as well as European countries. We are ready to share our experience and technologies with Sweden and to expand cooperation in the defense industry.

Important discussions today about the serious situation in the Strait of Hormuz at the invitation of @EmmanuelMacron and @Keir_Starmer. Freedom of navigation is a global concern that affects us all. Sweden is ready to contribute, after a permanent cease-fire, to ensure safe passage.

Yesterday, Sweden’s Minister for Gender Equality @ninalarsson, participated in a commemoration ceremony to honour the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Ms. Larsson underlined that #NeverAgain is a shared responsibility and commitment to inclusion and respect. Remembering is not only about the past, but also about the values we choose to defend in the present.
