#Lung MAP perspective on checkpoint immunotherapy definition for primary vs acquired resistance. Very timely and well done. @DDoroshow @LungMAP @SWOG
Adam J. Schoenfeld@AdamJSchoenfeld

Important perspective led by @DDoroshow and the Lung-MAP team in @JCO_ASCO on defining primary vs acquired resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors in NSCLC clinical trials. Critical as we develop the next generation of post-ICI studies.

Agree @teamoncology NCORP is the heart & soul of NCI cancer clinical trials. the means by which we "bring the trial to the patient rather than bringing the patient to the trial" at academic center. At Lung MAP, our Lung Master protocol, well over 1/2 accrual is community @SWOG
Naoto T Ueno, MD, PhD@teamoncology

The @UHCancerCenter is highly active in clinical trials through NCORP and NCTN. Dr. Jeffrey Berenberg, our highly respected senior investigator, serves as our senior principal investigator and has been a key leader in advancing this important work. NCORP/NCTN studies are equally important to industry-sponsored trials. They help bring high-quality cancer clinical trials to communities and ensure that research addresses the real needs of patients, including those in underserved and geographically isolated areas. A recent podcast by The Cancer Letter featuring NCORP leaders highlights how cancer clinical trials are becoming increasingly complex. While regulatory oversight is essential for patient safety and research quality, growing administrative requirements can slow progress and take valuable time away from patient care and research execution. The discussion also emphasizes major challenges facing clinical trials today: workforce shortages, staff turnover, limited funding, low patient participation, and the difficulty of bringing trials to underserved communities. These issues directly affect access, trust, and the ability to deliver high-quality cancer care. The key message is clear: community involvement is essential. Clinical trials must reach patients where they live. Better outreach, education, training, and thoughtful use of tools such as AI can help reduce barriers and make cancer research more efficient, accessible, and patient-centered. Cancer research works best when the community is not only included, but truly engaged. This is a great podcast to listen to. youtube.com/watch?v=ummAFQ…

🚨 Final DART trial presentation at #ASCO by @PatelOncology today! Kudos to the whole SWOG-NCI team! @Dr_R_Kurzrock Comprehensive results from the landmark DART trial (NCI/SWOG S1609) evaluating dual immunotherapy for rare cancers. Rare tumors make up ~22% of all cancer cases but are massively underrepresented—until now. The details: 🔹 The Treatment: Combined CTLA-4 (ipilimumab) + PD-1 (nivolumab) blockade across 53 rare cancer cohorts. 🔹 The Scale: 798 patients enrolled across 1,083 US sites. 🔹 Efficacy: 24 of 53 cohorts (45%) demonstrated clear clinical activity. Meaningful responses seen in rare types like gestational trophoblastic disease, chordoma, and basal cell carcinoma. 🔹 Survival: Median 3-year Overall Survival (OS) reached 23% across these heavily challenging diseases. 🔹 Safety: 14% of patients discontinued treatment due to adverse events (most commonly fever, diarrhea, and rash). A monumental effort bringing targeted hope to the rare cancer community! 🔬🌟 #OncTwitter #RareCancer #Immunotherapy @SWOG @NUFeinbergMed @LurieCancer @NorthwesternMed @SupportingSWOG @OncoViews @OncoAlert

A simple blood test may detect tumor relapse in patients with early-stage germ cell tumors. The interim results of the @SWOG S1823 (#CCTG GCC1) study presented at #ASCO26 could identify patients at higher risk of relapse earlier #DrLuciaNappi buff.ly/wLDl01S
