Squacco Heron showed well thro' a 'scope in far SW corner of Long Drove lake (next to Ham Wall RSPB), looking from Sharpham Lane between 11:15 & 11:25 this morning. Perched just above water in low branches of tree & also 2 short flights. (photo from Lesvos 2012)

I Was very lucky to be told about and managed to see a Squacco Heron yesterday. Unfortunately, it was on private land and over 300 meters away and didn’t stay long. The first time for me in the uk. A chance that it could pop up anywhere. @RSPBHamWall. @AvalonMarshes.

Please watch this if you haven't already. It is critical that we make this a priority election issue for all parties. "We know what we can do to turn this around, but sadly we're not seeing that leadership from government to make sure that happens." channel4.com/news/nature-in…

V positive feeling day at #RestoreNatureNow demo with lots of voices demanding nature’s demise isn’t ignored any longer. Surely, surely must be time for change. But on the flip, also incredibly saddened it fell on the same day as this (a tree I 💚) 😢👉 bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

@NPyatt Hi Nick. They've been around for a few years now. I've been seeing them on the Mendips for the last four to five years.
