The road to the “Super Sukhoi” upgrade has now entered one of the most important testing phases. (Yes, much awaited fabrication & testing) The most important Element (radar: Virupaksha) ✅ Before the new Virupaksha AESA radar can fly on the Su-30MKI, scientists first need to make sure the aircraft’s nose cone (radome) does not weaken or distort the radar beam. ✅ For this, DRDO is building a special X-Band Radome Test Jig essentially a ground test setup that checks how the radar performs once installed inside the aircraft. Once these ground tests are complete, the radar will be mounted on a flying test bed and its performance will be tested. (Will that be Virupaksha too ?) or it will be a MKI (‘ll be interesting to see: my take MKI).
