I am outraged and deeply saddened by the explosion at the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, and the terrible loss of life that resulted. Immediately upon hearing this news, I spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel and have directed my national security team to continue gathering information about what exactly happened. The United States stands unequivocally for the protection of civilian life during conflict and we mourn the patients, medical staff and other innocents killed or wounded in this tragedy.

No, but I don’t think those comparisons are totally apt; the removal of Isis from Mosul/ Raqqa is a much better comparison in my opinion. And still, like you, I feel far from sure that anything good will come from this invasion of Gaza. I just don’t see that Israel has any alternative. Certainly I’ve seen no other sane options suggested on this platform. The suggestions I’ve seen include the cessation of Israel itself (very popular among my Pakistani followers, which is ironic given the parallels between those two countries); the opening up of Israel’s border with Gaza (which amounts to the cessation of Israel); that hostilities cease and Israel just takes the hit, and so on. There is no country in the world that, in the same circumstances, would pursue any of these options. Israel is doing the only thing it can do, which is to attempt to clear Hamas out of Gaza while minimising civilian casualties. It’s a tall order, and it probably won’t work. It’s a shit situation for everyone in the region.

Hey Ben, last I checked Britain didn't level Northern Ireland and commit genocide on it's civilians to get rid of the IRA. And guess what, weapons are gone and there is peace. It's all possible Ben if you let go of your racist views and fight for humanity, it's been done before.
