On Corpus Christi, Pope Francis says “Bread of the Eucharist” belongs in “streets filled with rubble and destruction,” and warns against “flashy” processions just to “show off.” vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2…

@CatholicProg It’s not wrong at all. I’ve worked in a parish for nearly 25 years and always appreciated when parishioners explained why they were leaving the parish (or Catholicism all together).

Have we reached a moment when it's time for the many LGBTQ bishops, priests, deacons, brothers and sisters of the Catholic Church to come out? bit.ly/3KqbitY

Today, we remember George Floyd and reaffirm our commitment to anti-racism. We continue to work to dismantle systemic racism in federal policies and to build a society where human dignity is upheld. No exceptions! #BlackLivesMatter

Absolutely devastating. @CBSEveningNews @NorahODonnell: “for a little girl growing up Catholic today, will she ever have the opportunity to be a deacon and participate as a clergy member in the church?”
Pope Francis: “No.”

@nhannahjones I agree. It doesn’t matter how much you know about injustice, what matters if that you speak out against it when you see it. The pro-Palestinian protesters are inspirational.

I really do not understand the calculus of constantly insulting young people, and presuming what they do or do not know. Also, college students during the CRM didn’t have to understand the entire history of racism to know segregation was immoral. Did BLM protestors have to know the entire history of policing to protest what happened to George Floyd? This sort of haughty dismissal is just strange to me.
The Recount@therecount
Hillary Clinton criticizes pro-Palestinian protests and says many young people she’s spoken to “don't know very much at all about the history of the Middle East or, frankly, about history in many areas of the world.”

On this day in 2009, members of the Ku Klux Klan in Ozark, Alabama, burned a cross in a residential neighborhood to intimidate Black families living in the area. calendar.eji.org/racial-injusti…
