🚨 @housingrightsUS has filed discrimination complaints against 200+ CA landlords, alleging they illegally refused to rent to #Section8 voucher holders.

@tclift Thank you for this very important reporting. Is it true the city promised CR residents permanent housing? Also do you know what the city plans to do with the trailers?

I’ve covered dozens of sweeps in my last six years here. I’ve never seen one like this.
New story up now:
Sacramento closes Camp Resolution, evicting homeless disabled seniors. ‘Failed experiment’

@tclift Do people who go to shelters actually end up in housing quickly?
English

@Nikki_Paschal @tclift Yes it’s true. They promised them permanent housing in the written lease agreement between the city and safe ground sacramento.

I spent the last month combing through local news for @theappeal to find the cities passing anti-homelessness camping bans since the Supreme Court’s landmark Grants Pass ruling.

POLL: 73% of battleground voters support rent caps.
The rent is too damn high. The solution to rent gouging? Rent caps. This is the only solution that meets the scale and severity of the crisis tenants endure every month.

I met many homeless people in Grants Pass—with jobs that didn’t add up to rent, with disabilities or such trauma they couldn’t work. I know the faces of the people the Supreme Court just said should be in jail for sleeping outside. Now every city can do the same.

I went to Grants Pass, Oregon, a town of 40,000 people that’s about to re-write homelessness policy for the entire United States. I found a perfect encapsulation of our national crisis. newrepublic.com/article/181036…
