NIMBY my ass. I literally lived next to a housing development for years, waking up to the sound of laborers - whom I supported being able to work early and through the COVID pandemic - to build housing.
Funny how I don’t hear the anti-rent control crowd fighting government regulation when it comes to Prop 13. I guess there IS a reason for cost control on housing.

I think economists should articulate clearly what they mean by "bad policy." We might actually get somewhere if we engaged seriously with the empirical literature on the costs *and benefits* of rent regulation. Shouting down everyone with a different weighting isn't gonna cut it.
