According to the allegations, the officer abducted a minor Muslim girl, Walida Sani, from Jigawa, subjected her to forced religious conversion and committed repeated acts of sexual abuse that resulted in pregnancy. The case further alleges that a medical procedure was carried out at a hospital in Abuja because of complications related to her age. While the matter remains before the courts but the issuance of an arrest warrant sends an important signal that no individual is above the law. It also reflects the justice system’s responsibility to protect vulnerable persons, uphold freedom of religion and ensure accountability for serious allegations of abuse. Many will be watching closely as this legal process unfolds, hoping it leads to truth, justice and stronger safeguards against such violations.
