This is something the black community as a collective don't like to address and I understand given I love Michael too. But its pretty obvious, vitiligo aside, he changed his physical features due to internalized anti-blackness he endured growing up.

These was way more than just Vitiligo. Y’all need to start saying the truth at this point tho, most of Michael Jackson’s cosmetic surgeries were not required for vitiligo, we have to somewhat agree at some point that he took advantage of the situation and did more surgeries than he should have actually done. He had an image he wanted to portray and he got it. Vitiligo affects skin pigment, not facial structure, It doesn’t require nose jobs, chin reshaping, possible cheek and facial contour work or major facial surgery. These are aesthetic choices, not medical treatment for vitiligo. The only explanation for this decision is possibly his desire to refine his appearance due to pressure from fame and personal insecurities. There possibly was a need to maintain a consistent look of his choice while his skin condition progressed.

@jwfarns It is sad but this is something that the community doesn't like to talk about because while we're victims of it, we also perpetuate anti-blackness but the collective hate to admit cause it'll make them feel guilty.

@SailorMermaidix — the time period these surgeries happened is also important. celebs getting plastic surgery has always been a big thing and was even bigger during those years. no one talks about other celebs getting work done, but when it comes to mj a convo just has to be had for some reason.

@WestAthens68 Hell look at Sammy Sosa. He didn't have vitiligo but he actively used bleaching creams to appear to have white skin cause he, like many in the black diaspra weather they want to admit it or not, we're taught that any close to whiteness would make life easier and better.
