@satnam6502 Haven’t seen the show but from your description, it resonates with some mentors I have had so far ( including my advisor) and I feel genuinely lucky for that! Pushing a mentee without being abusive is an underrated ( and hard to acquire) quality.

One of the most touching scenes in season 2 of The Bear is where a master Noma-class pastry chef mentors Marcus teaching him how to scoop the perfect quenelle, initially telling him over and over again that it is not good enough. What is wonderful about how he does this is that

@SajalSultan Yes☹️I'm expected to attend a few hrs meeting + contribute to writing. I've just sent an email expressing my sorrow & inability to work on this project any longer :( It's very difficult to be in this position again!!

From '16-19 I worked on a comp-bio project & wanted to pursue this line for PhD. From the start so many things were amiss. In '19 after submitting the final result, sth went wrong between the collaborator+my then project advisor & I was asked to forget about my work here! 1/2

I was so burnt out that I was happy to let it go by then despite my 3yrs effort! Now suddenly 2yrs later they feel the results are interesting to be a paper. I don't mind if they give me any credit/ not - the emails are simply giving me ____ 😑🙁 2/2

Damn Umich CS sure does suck. So unethical. No one should apply to PhD there for the spring 2022 semester.

@FarhanaShahid_ In my first school, I used to cry a lot in the class. My mom would wave by the classroom window to calm me down. I sure could use some of that in many situations recently.

During my 1st school admission exam I realized for the 1st time in life I'm in a room full of unknown! 😔 I pretended to be OK but soon started crying & left the exam saying I don't care, I just want to be w my mom🥺 Being able to do that seems like a privilege!
