Four years ago, in these very days, the fate of Kyiv was finally decided. Here, in the small dacha village of Moshchun on the outskirts of Kyiv, on the banks of the Irpin River, Russian forces suffered a decisive defeat, and on March 21, 2022, Ukrainian troops cleared the area of the enemy, securing a decisive victory in the battle for Kyiv. It was here, in Moshchun, that Russian forces managed to cross the Irpin River at the only point and threaten a breakthrough directly into Kyiv. It was here that the heroic 72nd Mechanized, as well as units and formations of the territorial defense, special operations forces, the National Guard, and volunteers (including foreigners), fought a heavy battle to prevent this, and the fate of the capital hung by a thread. But the heroism of the defenders prevailed. Russian forces, in particular the ill-fated 155th Naval Infantry from the Pacific and elite VDV units faltered and retreated from Moshchun. Not a single Russian soldier ever set foot within the administrative boundaries of Kyiv. It is sad, but Moshchun barely survived the battle of 2022 -- it became largely depopulated and significantly destroyed, although residents have already rebuilt and restored much. It is always very quiet there. The local community and authorities have for several years now been arranging and developing an open-air memorial museum called “Angels of Victory.” On the very site where Ukrainian trenches once stood in opposition to advancing Russian forces. I went there again a couple of days ago to pay respects to the souls of the fallen soldiers. This is a place of mourning and a place of the greatest gratitude, one that every person who values the ideals of the free world should visit.

🛡️ Middle East Turns to Ukraine’s Drone Shield Ukraine has built one of the most effective counters to mass drone attacks and now the world is trying to get it. After facing waves of Iranian designed Shahed drones since 2022, Ukraine shifted toward a simpler solution: interceptor drones. Instead of using expensive air defense systems against relatively cheap targets, Ukrainian companies developed fast, low cost drones designed to hunt and destroy them. These interceptors cost roughly $1,000 to $2,000, compared to $30,000 to $100,000 for a Shahed. They launch quickly, reach speeds up to 300 km per hour, and detonate near the target to ensure a kill. In some sectors, they account for a large share of shootdowns, reportedly up to 70 percent in certain areas. That shift changes the economics of air defense. Ukraine is no longer forced to trade costly missiles for cheaper threats. Instead, it matches volume with volume and does it at a fraction of the cost. The model has drawn global attention. Countries in the Middle East, facing similar drone threats, have sought Ukrainian systems and expertise. Ukrainian teams have already deployed abroad in limited roles, and demand has grown for tens of thousands of interceptors. At the same time, Kyiv is holding back full scale exports for now, prioritizing its own battlefield needs and using this capability as leverage in negotiations for critical systems like Patriot missiles. That is a barrier for more lucrative international deals but reflects a broader effort to convert battlefield innovation into strategic advantage. Production has scaled quickly. Multiple Ukrainian manufacturers have built different interceptor models, with some reaching hundreds of units per day. Development has also moved toward automation, with AI integration expected to improve target tracking and reduce the need for multiple drones per interception. What started as an urgent workaround has become a core layer of Ukraine’s air defense and a product other countries now want. As production scales and autonomy improves, interceptor drones are set to reshape how militaries defend against mass aerial threats well beyond this war.

On the same day, the cadets who remained faithful to the oath performed the National Anthem of Ukraine during the raising of the Russian flag. After the relocation of the educational institution, these cadets completed their studies at the Institute of Naval Forces of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy”, became officers and now command ships, units and continue to repel the enemy. We were faithful then — we remain so today! Glory to Ukraine!”.
