I wonder if the Minister of Health has ever spent the night on the front line in any Accident and Emergency department in the land and witnessed the decency, kindness, competence and compassion of the staff who are forced to work in ever more cramped and degrading facilities?

Not surprised to hear unsatisfactory reports of the Priory group. As a therapist I had many refugees from the Priory and found their accounts of treatment disturbing #mentalhealth #depression #anorexia

@ajlees For myself, when asked to fill in such forms I generally find I lie, not deliberately but because I never really know what I truly feel at any time other than the actual present.

I filled in the Non-Motor Symptoms Questionnaire for Parkinson's disease and ticked 10 out of 30 boxes . I see no advantage to dishing this pseudometric out to people with Parkinson's disease before or on arrival at clinic. Concentrate on improving history taking at med school

@SalleyVickers Houghton spent three years reading his way through Swedenborg (he tells Henry Miller in a letter) and the deep grasp of what he read shows, transformed into a compelling fictional life & context.

And my most enjoyable fictional read of 2022 was a re-read of Claude Houghton's 'Julian Grant loses his way' as a compelling parable of the afterlife of an egotist infused with Swedenborg's vision of the self-creation of heaven or of hell. ncolloff.blogspot.com/2020/04/half-w…

I'm rather in love with @wesstreeting Yes I know it'll be unrequited but he is one of the most intelligent Labour politicians for many years. Can't wait for him to save our NHS

Out walking for the first time since last year’s op. The fields were so green, speedwell so blue, the May so white. Absolutely wonderful. Uplifting

@EdwinaLL Yes, I was working as a therapist then and encountered therapists who were fixated on child abuse and encouraged false memories

A hospital’s atmosphere markedly influences the healing process. I have found that in London small old National Health Service hospitals are the most therapeutic and glossy new American owned factory clinics the least @SalleyVickers @ProfRayTallis

I go among trees and sit still. All my stirring becomes quiet around me like circles on water. My tasks lie in their places where I left them, asleep like cattle. From Sabbath poems by Wendell Berry (or sheep in this case)!
