If schools and universities refuse to teach the great books of the West, we will do it ourselves. We started an independent group to study the Great Texts of the Western canon, together. ...and we are now 600 members strong! 🙌 What should we add to our reading list??

I can't tell you the level of disgust and shame I feel about the events of the last 36 hours. 👇 ➡️ Two years of hate parades, given cover by many in Labour, legitimised by last week's recognition of "Palestine", all culminating in yesterday's appalling, but by now sadly foreseeable, antisemitic attack. ➡️ The usual state and much media obfuscation about the killer's origins and motives. This evening we discover he was also on bail for sexual assault. What else might we yet learn? ➡️ Last night's shameful and intimidating pro-Palestine demonstrations. ➡️ Today, a seemingly powerless Home Secretary and Met, unsupported by the London Mayor, pleading with a bunch of leftist agitators not to do the same tomorrow & next weekend. ➡️ A government so out of touch with feeling in the Jewish community that it could send the Deputy PM to say "don't let hate divide us" and expect that to be good enough. David Lammy deserved all the heckling he got this afternoon. I never imagined that anti-semitism would ever return to Britain, still less in this virulent, dangerous form. The weakness, appeasement, bad faith, and sheer incompetence of the British state have been on show these last two days as almost never before. We are right to be angry. Yet who is really surprised? And who is going to turn the tide?

This is the third ad that has me sobbing in so many days. The clock website wouldn’t even let it be shown. Stand up for girls!!! You aren’t a bad person if you support girls’ sports. It isn’t fair or safe to allow boys into girls’ sports.

@LibDems @munirawilson Totally spineless behaviour by the Lib Dems. Without a full inquiry, there won’t be accountability and these rape gangs will continue. By abstaining in the vote, you failed in your duty to keep our children safe.

@LibDems @LibDemPress Why don’t you listen to many of the victims who are calling for a proper national inquiry? Yes implement recommendations, but also we need accountability and punishment for those who covered up abuse. To raise concerns about the cover up isn’t using victims as political football!

The Conservatives are using the victims of this scandal as a political football. Liberal Democrats will be putting forward an amendment to take real action to tackle the child sex abuse scandal, by implementing the recommendations from the national independent inquiry in full.

@ronniegraham100 @krishk The inquiry was v limited and only covered 6 of the cities involved - eg. didn’t cover Rotherham or Rochdale. It’s obvs why Lab govt won’t do proper inquiry - Labour councils were covering it up! Protecting themselves rather than seeking proper justice for the girls.

Elon Musk calls the Safeguarding Minister, "A rape genocide apologist" Despite her outstanding record challenging the violence against women. In a political context where such irresponsible lies could put the Minister in personal danger, this is deeply concerning. It's hard not to think about Jo Cox's murder by a far right extremist. Nigel Farage refuses to criticize Musk and indeed today says of him: "I think he's a hero, and I said that well before any potential money was offered." Now Musk says Farage should go as leader of Reform. What we see here is power-play politics, and no actual concern for people who have been abused – it's all a game for these rich men.

@TiceRichard Facilitating suicide to reduce the burden on NHS is immoral. Vulnerable people will be pressured into an early death because of this. V disappointed - It’s shameful you voted for this evil assisted suicide bill.

Wolf this is nonsense It is personal not party; those who’ve seen loved ones die in excruciating pain despite wonderful palliative care, feel that surely we should be able to do things better? Is forced drowning, slowly over 10 hours in your own faecal vomit acceptable to you? Knowing that is one’s fate weeks ahead 😰

@PriyamvadaGopal Maybe true - but does that justify the indiscriminate and racist violence that ensued, often targeting innocent fans who were caught in the wrong place at the wrong time? Disgusting you try to excuse this.

@iansabbath @miriam_cates @krishk @RoryStewartUK @Christianitymag It’s not that simple - the Democrats were in power and couldn’t bring in gun control. There’s powerful lobby groups and legitimate reasons for gun ownership. And if we want to talk about some children being more precious than others, look at Kamala’s voting record on abortion…

@krishk @RoryStewartUK @Christianitymag Yes, but he’s only just been elected. Give him a chance to govern and of course call out any injustice that happens under his watch. Perhaps it’s not that people love bullies, maybe Dems just did bad job in govt and Harris was a weak candidate.

@SallyYarrow @RoryStewartUK @Christianitymag Do you not think there's also a time to call out injustice? Jesus overturned tables in the temple courts. John the Baptist called out Herod's adultery. We should pray for our leaders too. It does not have to be either-or.

@narindertweets Since when was it right for people to pay for the sins of their ancestors? And when did the slave trade become a simple case of the Brits being to blame? Perhaps we need reparations for the slavery of the Ottoman Empire? Where will it stop?

The comments below this and all the negativity towards reparations is just depressing. Why are British people just not prepared to even have a conversation? Is it not the very LEAST you can do ? And do NOT reply with "we ended slavery" because it will expose your lack of knowledge.

@narindertweets The monarchy is part of our heritage and culture. You may not value our country’s heritage and Christian foundation, but I think if he’s coaching the England team it is massively disrepectful not to sing the anthem.

Total respect for Lee Carsley, a man of integrity. He is there to do a job not sing a daft song about a King who took an extra £45mill that could have fed starving kids in this country. It's a National anthem about ONE person, not even the country!
