@Chris874835601 Well, when OG RE3 is one of my favorite games of all time, and the Remake is quite literally nothing at all that I loved about it, it's gonna make me pretty pissed at it. At least Survivor still has that old school feel. They're close to equal for me, Survivor winning barely.

@SalmonSaviour 3make behind survivor is crazy. It’s not the best but it can’t be next to them games. I get it’s subjective but it’s a real stretch that

@JoeyChase_ As for OGRE4, stellar, all time game. Fucking total blast, I adore it to death. But, horror is my main reason for coming to these games. I can't reasonably place any action entry above B, 4R makes shit a LOT more horror, mostly just in presentation I will admit.

@JoeyChase_ Darkside has the better mechanics and atmosphere, great remake of RE2, great CV remake, all that. Plus, original scenario that makes Leon/Krauser dynamic awesome. UC falls apart kinda around the RE3 part of it, where the budget was obviously gone.

The Resident Evil fandom suddenly having a high adaptation standard is incredibly funny considering the previous films. Like here is a director with nothing but a good track record, but no, THIS one will be the worst for sure, they say

@mothmaryy i mean, TO ME PERSONALLY, his style and writing would fit insanely well for an original Silent Hill story, thought that from day one after seeing Hereditary. i know he isn't exactly for everyone though 😭

@AkirasParadox @NotRollingTim The closest to WWZ is what? Them jumping off the roof? Only other shot is just a horde pressing against a door at normal speed lol, they act like normal ass zombies.

@BlackMajikMan90 It also didn't even fully make its money back or break even. Which is why they went to Cregger for a big name to guarantee people in seats. This new one has a budget of 80 mil. It also wouldn't make sense to go from WTRC to doing the mansion AGAIN RIGHT AFTER IT WAS ALREADY TRIED

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City failed for two reasons and two reasons only: 1. The Script 2. The Budget That’s it. Johannes Roberts’ heart was in the right place but he was given absolutely nothing to work with. A script that combined Resident Evil 1 and 2 was never, EVER going to work as there was simply too much ground to cover in just two hours. That script should have never been approved and the blame lies solely on Screen Gems and Constantin Film. Then there’s the budget. 25 million may seem like a lot, but that simply isn’t enough to cover a film of this scale. Sony got cheap and that cheapness affected castings, CGI, scale, production, literally everything. WTRC was hampered right out of the gate and was never going to succeed under these conditions. Making a faithful Resident Evil film shouldn’t be this hard. Give the film a 50 million dollar budget, hire an up and coming horror director who loves the games and give him or her a great script that focuses on Resident Evil 1 and ONLY Resident Evil 1. This isn’t rocket science Hollywood, so stop acting like it is.

(1/3) So the reason we haven’t gotten a faithful 1 for 1 adaptation of Resident Evil is due to a contract between Capcom and Constantin Film. The contract mandates live-action films to be in a separate continuity from the games #REBHFun #ResidentEvil

Resident Evil fans: "if it isn't the EXACT Resident Evil movie I've already written, produced, and directed in my head then it is GARBAGE and I DON'T FUCKING WANT IT" Evil Dead fans: "another Evil Dead movie? In a new location with all new characters? Fuck yeah let's go"

I think the thing with Cregger’s Resident Evil is that it’s fair for fans to want something actually set in the universe. I think everybody would. The issue is that isn’t Cregger’s fault, it’s an awful deal between Capcom and Constantin.

Cregger definitely an “I prefer Grace’s sections” Resident Evil guy
Culture Crave 🍿@CultureCrave

Zach Cregger on his 'Resident Evil' movie 🧟‍♂️ "I wanted this movie to tell the story of what would happen if some idiot like me were dropped into the world of a Resident Evil game. So Austin plays not some badass with combat experience like Leon but just an average dude. That makes his experience of moving through this hellscape way more interesting to me than somebody who’s psychologically equipped" "A pistol [is] the first weapon he acquires in the movie. Just like in the games, as he progresses through the world he’ll get better weapons. It’s such a fun moment when you’re playing RE and you finally get the shotgun or the machine gun and I wanted that sense of progression to be in the movie" "Resident Evil is of course a franchise that’s got a ton of zombies but it’s also got all sorts of weirder monstrosities. Really wanted to make sure that we never got a handle on what kind of dangers we’d find. It’s not just a zombie movie. The T-Virus can have a lot of different effects and I wanted to make sure we had a variety of adversaries" "The slow discovery of horrific elements is something I really love about Resident Evil. It’s not a run and gun action game. It’s about tension and atmosphere and so I really wanted to lean into that. As much as there’s plenty of action in the movie it’s equally important to honor the dread. That moment when you look down a dark passage and you know something awful is waiting in that darkness for you. You don’t want to go forwards but you can’t go back. That’s the sweet spot"

@RealTruggler Like, Zach regularly talks about how the first two resident Evil games were huge influences on Barbarian, a script he wrote years before producing it too. Dude's been sitting on ideas he had in his youth as a Horror Media fan and being yelled at by a bunch of NewGen horror kids
