I’m Gen X. My parents are Boomers. The more complaints I read by Millennials and younger, it feels like they don’t actually KNOW any Boomers and are just projecting their frustrations onto them.

@Yoc_Star The interest rate thing always gets me…younger people these days swear up and down that rates are currently bad. Apparently none of them are aware that these rates are historically great.

The “starter homes for $25k” makes me laugh. I looked up the price of what my parents paid for their house in 1986. $117,500. The average interest rate was around 13%. It was a small 3 bedroom 1 bathroom 1008 square foot home. My room was the smallest and my brothers shared a room. Built in 1941. That was a starter home. It didn’t have a big kitchen or a spacious bathroom or walk in closets. One bathroom for five people. We didn’t have TVs in our rooms either. We didn’t eat out all the time. Food delivery didn’t exist. And it was NOT in the best part of town; you didn’t leave anything outside you didn’t want stolen. Saw it on Zillow, still has the original basement wall panels and flooring 😂

I must say, watching people melt down over putting clean, cheap, safe food from a package, procured in 5 minutes from an air conditioned store, into a pan and waiting 15 minutes is eye-opening.

@IamR0galD0rn What do you mean “might be?” They’re a completely failed and defective generation. They’ll need to be cared for for the rest of their lives by the rest of us like people with mental disabilities. All we can do now is hope that Gen A will be able to take over from us.

Millennials and zoomers pretend ordering a $2.50 trashburger from McDonalds for $15 from doordash is somehow an investment. I am not making this shit up. They might be beyond saving.

It’s not the mortgage rates that are keeping young people from buying homes, it’s the artificially inflated values that sellers think they can still get. First time home buyers are saying no. Until home values come down 30-50% there will continue to be an affordability problem.
