I can assure you, as someone who has only had a coffee addiction before using nicotine gum and pouches to fix taste/smell loss from COVID, it is definitely addictive. However, in a high stress, high demand job, the addiction is maybe more to the cognitive boost than anything else.

There is a long tail where those who can leverage, operate, and create AI and robotics will accelerate economic productivity. I can see that lifting whole countries out of poverty as they become the global equivalent of the US consumer. AI will enable industrious companies and workers to produce at unprecedented levels. An optimistic view that will absolutely require reskilling, but everyone will have to learn to leverage the machines to stay relevant and competetive. Plenty of upheaval ahead. everything will get cheaper, and those who are capable will be able to carry the rest. It's up to us, society, to decide how we will deal with those who get left behind.
