Trump wants to quit NATO? Let him. We don’t beg. We don’t grovel. We get on with it. Britain needs to wake up and stop pretending the world hasn’t changed. The peace dividend is gone. It’s been spent. And while we sleepwalked through three decades of decline, we hollowed out our steel, shuttered our factories, and handed our security to a man who thinks dictators are “very fine people.” No more. It’s time to re-industrialise this country like our survival depends on it because it does. Open the arms factories. Nationalise steel. Build things again. If we can’t make what we need to defend ourselves, we’re not a serious country we’re a client state. And let’s talk about who did this to us. The same people whispering “Russia isn’t so bad” are the same people who ripped us out of Europe. They told you it was about sovereignty. It was about servitude to oligarch money, to fossil fuel interests, to a vision of Britain as a lonely, weak island begging Washington for scraps. We’re still haemorrhaging £100 billion a year from our economy because of their lies. Enough. Get back in bed with the EU. Build CANZUK into something real. Stop treating alliances like nostalgia trips and start treating them like survival strategies. Trump is not our friend. He never was. Putin is our enemy. And the useful idiots who carried water for both of them? They should never be trusted with this country’s future again. Britain must look after its own interests. No one else will. So let’s get our country moving and God help anyone who stands in the way.

@msbabkoor @AlexBarnicoat_ I paid about $3000 a year for health insurance via work. My college education was free by serving in the US military.

I get what you're saying. At the time, it was about ending the war fast to avoid way more deaths on both sides. Japanese troops had shown they'd fight to the death, so invading the mainland would've been brutal with huge losses for everyone. The bombings were horrifying, no doubt, but most Americans still think the alternatives were worse. Glad we can talk about it honestly today and that our countries are friends now.

We are not our great grandfathers, and you are not yours. Their sins and their victories belong to them alone. Today we cherish the friendship we have built with you and I hope my candor has not threatened that in any way.

A lot of Americans wear sunglasses a lot because our sun is brutal in many places, and it's become a casual style thing. But honestly? The real reason a lot of us do it (even at night sometimes) is eye health. Constant UV exposure without protection raises the risk of cataracts, macular degeneration, and other eye damage down the line. Sunglasses are like sunscreen for your eyes. Japanese people might not wear them as much because of different fashion norms or less intense sun in some seasons, but protecting your eyes is universal. I am wearing my sunglasses at night watching you. :)

@visionergeo Yes, Poland should seriously prepare for a potential war with Russia. They should not rely on NATO, UK or the EU — neither will be there when the real fighting starts.

🇵🇱 ⚔️🇷🇺 Poland is preparing for war with Russia — the publication Rzeczpospolita writes that exercises will be held in the country during which a rehearsal of a Russian attack will take place. 🔹 According to the publication, the exercises include: strategic plans, response mechanisms, cooperation between civil and military agencies, as well as identifying weak points in management, communication, and procedures. 🔺 The exercises will involve Poland's highest officials: the president, prime minister, ministers, marshals of the Sejm and Senate, heads of state agencies, special services, and military commanders. 🔺 The exercises represent a strategic defense game, where various political and strategic decisions will be modeled, including the declaration of a state of war. 🔺 Apparently, Poland is focusing on full coordination of state institutions and crisis management under possible war conditions with Russia... 🔹 The scenario, location, and date of the military maneuvers are strictly classified.

Zelenskyy makes some valid points, but I believe the UK government has crossed the Rubicon, severely damaging — if not ending — the special relationship with the United States. That special relationship was what enabled America to support the United Kingdom in both World War I and World War II. If it can be rebuilt at all, it may take another 139 years — roughly the same time that passed between the American Revolution and the outbreak of World War I. The ugly and often hostile rhetoric coming from many European citizens online has done far more damage than they realize. Americans do not forget this kind of behavior quickly, especially when it comes from supposed allies. Trust, once broken on this scale, is extremely difficult to restore.

ZELENSKYY to BBC: I believe that America is stronger with Europe. I believe that there's no NATO without America, and NATO doesn't exist without Europe. They should not argue who contributed more. This is not a competition. America and Europe are one civilized world with the same values. Any split in NATO will weaken both sides. We want to be allies with a strong NATO, where everyone respects one another and is ready to defend.

The USA still drops over $1 trillion on defense in 2026 — more than the next nine countries combined — with unmatched global projection, carrier fleets, tech supremacy, and a dollar that keeps the whole world on the hook. Not a major power? That's pure fever-dream cope that gets vaporized the second reality slams in like a hypersonic missile. Remember Iran, fully armed with the best China and Russian military tech? How did that glorious axis of resistance work out for them when the heat turned up? And look at how American tech has been holding the line for Ukraine's defense — delivering real results on the battlefield while the 'superior' alternatives keep underperforming. Stay mad, cope artist. The eagle's talons are still sharp.

BREAKING 🇺🇸🇪🇺: Marco Rubio warns NATO could become a “one-way street” if the U.S. cannot access allied bases in times of need. “If we can’t use those bases when we need them, then NATO loses its purpose,” Rubio said. “Why are we in NATO if, in our time of need, we can’t rely on those allies? We’re going to have to reexamine the value of NATO and what the alliance truly offers our country.” The remarks come amid growing tensions and debates over NATO’s role in supporting U.S. operations abroad.

Ah, the classic 'Bumfuck USA' insult, delivered with all the grammatical elegance of a drunken undergraduate who’s just discovered the word 'Trumpanzee'. One might gently suggest that if educational standards in Britain were quite what you imagine, you wouldn’t have written 'require to be overhauled' when 'require overhauling' would have sufficed, nor mangled your sentence structure quite so impressively. Still, splendid effort. Do keep us updated on how the fight against the MAGA intelligentsia is going from whatever charming corner of the Home Counties you’re typing from.

Not our fight, and good luck to them. Having read this, I have written to my Congressman and both Senators urging them to cut off further funding for Ukraine. I would encourage every other American to do the same. Do we really wish to continue supporting people who employ this sort of language? They are little better than the Russians.

You're correct that pulling out of NATO requires a two-thirds Senate vote. However, President Trump has the ability to drastically scale back U.S. military operations in Europe, keep bases at minimal mothball status, and significantly reduce foreign aid and assistance to Europe. No funding for Ukraine.

@m0w4q45 I'm not too worried just yet. Apparently to leave NATO Trump needs approval from congress or an act of congress so cooler heads might prevail. I also find that if Trump wants to do something, he just does it. When he threatens to do something, there's a decent chance it's a bluff

That’s rather ironic, isn’t it? It is true that only around 45–50% of Americans currently hold a valid passport. However, many Europeans also rarely venture beyond their own shores or the confines of the European Union. Thanks to the Schengen Area, a simple national ID card is frequently all that is required to move freely between most EU countries. The United States, by contrast, is vastly larger than any European nation. This allows Americans to travel immense distances — by road or by air — and experience extraordinary geographic and cultural variety without ever crossing an international border. Can one travel 3,689 miles within the United Kingdom without needing a passport? I rather doubt it. For context, my own holiday trip last year covered approximately 3,000 miles — every mile of it entirely within the United States. In the end, geography and scale tend to shape one’s travel habits far more than any supposed national superiority in worldliness or curiosity.

I lived in the UK for several years, including a spell on Broad Street in Ely, Cambridgeshire. I spent a great deal of time at King’s College in Cambridge, and my local was the Cutter Inn overlooking the Great Ouse. Not many Americans would recognise those particular corners of the country. Having travelled and lived in various parts of the world over the years, it occurs to me that you may never have actually visited Ely or Cambridge. My apologies for assuming you had. Tell me — have you ever lived in the United States, or are you simply viewing the world through a rather limited lens?

Deal. When we leave Germany, we won’t need to fly wounded Americans out of Ramstein — because our troops won’t be there as your tripwire anymore. We have friendlier allies than Germany for medical evac if needed. Middle East ops can run from our Gulf bases, and drone control can shift via Space Command. Europe is wealthy — have fun with Ukraine and start paying for your own defense. Stop using U.S. bases as political pawns. Bring the troops home.
