Maye and Dak are COMFORTABLY better than Sam (WHICH IS OKAY THEY ARE BOTH TOP 7 QBS)
Sam is great, but there’s no need to try to make him overrated. He’s a great QB, but there’s not much to suggest he’s in that upper echelon of guys.

If a player was the first player of their race or gender that would absolutely warrant a mention.
Also feels like to argue that it disregards who he was as a person is silly because it was such a huge part of his life, too.

...I don't know what era of news would present this with a different headline? And is his most well-known descriptor somehow inhumane? Fox News, ESPN and CBS Sports all have almost exactly the same wording in their headlines

This infuriates me. Jason passes away at 47 and somehow the headline still feels the need to reduce him to a label before acknowledging his humanity. He was a human being, teammate, brother and a person people loved. Headlines today are built for clicks 1st and compassion 2nd.
