We are on the scene of a serious collision on the London-bound A127 at #Childerditch, near #Brentwood. We were called the incident shortly after 10.30am this morning, Monday 25 April. The road is currently closed in both directions whilst the incident is being dealt with.

My god. He tried his best to get an ambulance, repeatedly calling 999 to report mum was having trouble breathing. His final call is to tell the call-handler it was too late. This is appalling. My heart goes out to this poor family. She was 56. How could this happen?

Emergency refugee areas are only safer than a hard shoulder IF (and it’s a very big if) you can reach them. Emergency refuge areas do not help emergency vehicles get through 4 lanes of stuck traffic. When minutes and seconds are vital.

He was killed in the hs which is a dangerous place to be but its my opinion if they are taken away it's far more dangerous. Sm are not what they were first intended

@AAPresident What is wrong with people!!!! A young boy has lost his life a mother lost her son!!! What ever the reason for his grandfather stopping it still leads back to lack of education from the top. Head of HE has said no more of these will be built because they are dangerous!!!

Despite the election, our smart motorway campaign continues to try to stop this sort of incident.

Delays of over an hour following crash on M25 ‘smart’ motorway anti-clockwise near Enfield. Hope nobody hurt but yet again lack of hard shoulder or ERAs results in live lane closed and more congestion. #notsmart
