This same dry, windy weather that’s driving those Red Flag days is also keeping us from doing something that would actually help reduce wildfire risk in the long run: prescribed fire at Bear Creek Lake Park. 🌾 We have a burn plan in place through the end of April. But with current fire restrictions in Jefferson County- and conditions staying warm and dry- it’s unlikely we’ll be able to burn. 🚫🔥 Prescribed fire can help reduce invasive species 🌱, improve habitat 🐝🦋🐦, and lower wildfire risk. But only when conditions are right. Right now, they’re not. Not even close. 🎥 Watch how prescribed fire helps restore balance in the park- when conditions allow.
