A warning to my fellow breastmilk enjoyers. If you’re sourcing breastmilk, you need to pay close attention to provenance. Of course, this is true of all food and drink, but a new study shows that a mother’s childhood traumas are linked to the specific composition of her breastmilk. The researchers found that childhood traumas influence the fatty-acid and micro RNA composition of breastmilk, and that that these substances could, quite literally, pass on the traumas to the child and influence their mental and emotional development. TL;dr — your breastmilk could be giving you bad vibes. Source your breastmilk only from mothers who had a serene, untroubled childhood.
