Happy to talk about learnings from my dissertation work and beyond! Thanks for the opportunity

Why aren't #WNBA players dunking? 🏀 There have been no dunks in the WNBA regular season in 2025 ❌ @mazfaroo, @isaac_fanin and @SamLikesBiomech discuss on More Than The Score - plus hear from Seattle Storm player Dominique Malonga. Listen 🎧👇 bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0m…

Ah yes, Artificial Intelligence! Bringing you new elite features such as:
- filtering
- drawing
- charts
this new technology must be stopped!

The NFL and Microsoft have expanded their partnership to bring AI to the sidelines. Coaches and players can now use a Copilot feature to filter plays by down, distance, scoring plays, and penalties — helping make faster, data-driven decisions in-game.

@KaneJMiddleton @drivelinekyle @DrivelineBB This could be better improved with swing duration, but even if so, it just gets you the average acceleration. Perhaps they are looking for peak acceleration? Either way, it’s a great point by @KaneJMiddleton

I might be missing something, but can anyone explain to me how the variable on the x axis is acceleration? @drivelinekyle @DrivelineBB

Hello everyone! Now that I am near graduation for my PhD, I am still looking for any sports biomechanics-related roles (with experience working with MLB and NBA data and obviously in academia). I would appreciate any referrals/sharing/comments! 😊

@RealRobReinhart @NBA He started the clip with live dribble, gathered when both feet’s already on the ground and no moving, then shot it

@ThornesThrows @DrivelineBB I experienced something like this with my hand velo comparisons too. What should be mechanically relevant turns out to be just a meh correlation. That makes me think about the impulse-momentum of the hand ball complex…the change in momentum of the ball before and after BR…

@SamLikesBiomech @DrivelineBB With this interesting gap in data from 6.37 to 14.15 m/s, I wonder if there was a possible error.
If I take all low values and add a 1 (ie: 2.69 to 12.69), there is a much more natural graph and stronger relationship.
Still not enough to predict ball velo from wrist speeds

English

Before interning @DrivelineBB this summer, I looked into their OpenBiomechanics Project. Using the raw data, I made visuals showing everything I found with easy to understand visuals

@ThornesThrows @DrivelineBB Okay yeah, something’s up with the lect cluster
English

@SamLikesBiomech @DrivelineBB I also anticipated those to be very closely related, but here is a scatter plot of all max wrist vs ball velocity and a strange gap
There are some other factors such as grip and timing. ie: breaking/off speed pitches. Also late arm where wrist “catches up” with little force
