@RedSquirrelFtw@Alan12774588@LibertyCappy Some inflation is necessary for capitalism to survive. Prolonged deflation leads to cash hoarding, reduce spending, and would eventually collapse the entire market. Increasing wages is the result of inflation, not the cause.
@Alan12774588@LibertyCappy That's not sustainable, as we are clearly learning. Whatever needs to be done to stop or even reverse inflation is what should be done. If we keep increasing wages it just fuels inflation even more. It also hurts small biz as they can't afford to pay more.
@FreedomFrWords@JayCartere@BojackleZ@pokimanelol The line is crossed when the person in question says its crossed. A lot of times you can vaguely define the line by reading the room, but obviously you aren't very good at that
@FreedomFrWords@JayCartere@BojackleZ@pokimanelol No problems being solved here, unless youre trying to ask for my consent. Its obviously all pretty subjective, and depends on context, but i think you know that. This just doesnt seem like a good faith argument to me
@FreedomFrWords@JayCartere@BojackleZ@pokimanelol No one is stopping you from doing anything. If you want to continue to be a fking weirdo thats your right. If you want to knowingly make people uncomfortable, thats fine. But going out of your way to try to define just what you can get away with, is just weird
@FreedomFrWords@JayCartere@BojackleZ@pokimanelol If youre honestly asking where the line is on if you need consent or not, im gonna go ahead and say yes, you are not allowed to think about women. Jesus. Who raised you.
@JayCartere@BojackleZ@pokimanelol "She's pretty"
Have I crossed a line yet?
By thinking it? Or saying it?
"She's sexy"
Or now have I crossed the line?
And where was it, exactly?
@brucegelin@NipseyHoussle Spliced by original interviewer, couldnt find full video on their youtube. Still said $100 a month can make you a millionaire in 20 yrs off 4-5% returns. That was one continuous clip
Elon wasn’t super political on Twitter until Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren started attacking him for no reason. Then others followed. Of all the dudes they could have attacked, they chose the guy most capable of helping government solve problems. Strange choice.
@SamNaumann@Hyperghost99@cheeryohs@jasondebolt You lost me at “the working class” which is some socialist/communist jargon that implies people with wealth just had it magically appear. This may be true in communist countries, however you’re free and able to find a path to wealth in America. It’s not just handed out
@nightmancometth@Hyperghost99@cheeryohs@jasondebolt Im not asking anything. Just pointing out that if you own a home, you're already paying a wealth tax based on the value of your home, even if the bank owns most of it!
@SamNaumann@Hyperghost99@cheeryohs@jasondebolt You’re asking someone to pay taxes on their wealth, not their actual cash or income. This is a ridiculous ask and proves pretty clearly you don’t understand what a person like Elon Musk has in cash/income vs “wealth”
@nightmancometth@Hyperghost99@cheeryohs@jasondebolt The conversation is about wealth tax, not unrealized gains tax. The difference is that the working class has a wealth tax on the majority of their assets, but billionaires only have a wealth tax on a small fraction of their assets
@nightmancometth@Hyperghost99@cheeryohs@jasondebolt I know how it works, just seems silly to me to make the point "You dont pay taxes if you dont sell" then use a home as an example, which you do pay taxes on, even if you dont sell
@SamNaumann@Hyperghost99@cheeryohs@jasondebolt Your property tax goes to your local and state for things like schools, parks, etc. The unearned tax on perceived gains in property value is the same as taxing a “billionaire” on stocks they haven’t sold. Until that is converted to cash, it’s only wealth on paper
@Hyperghost99@cheeryohs@jasondebolt I pay ~1% of my home's value every year. Its a wealth tax, based on my home's value rather than an unrealized gain, but most call it a "property tax". I'm not confused, other than wondering why you'd use a house in this example 😂
@cheeryohs@jasondebolt You don't pay taxes if you don't sell. So if this would take place, guess what, your house, or any assets you still paying, keeps going up in value in time, you be paying short term unrealized gains every year, confusing every home owner out there
@suzy_redd@cassidy_campana@shirysapir What pushed me to the Republicans in '96 was that I started having kids. Their future required ethics, morals, a guideline to help them follow a path to good decision making based not in an ideology like Socialism, but rooted in a love of Country and that pursuit of happiness.
So 215,000 voters decided to vote only for a republican treasurer but all other statewide offices they thought democrats would do better? Really? Who are these people that deviate just on one name statewide to the opposite party? Why are they insulting our intelligence?
@SamNaumann@hellosomewhere@elonmusk Orrrr how many letters have you written to them? I’ll bet my houses on it being less than 1 hahahahaah fucking moron
