We also made some vertical tabs tweaks. The icon for expanding/minimizing the tabs is now on the same level as the toolbar. We've also fixed bugs with grouped vertical tabs. Their spacing should stay consistent when expanded or collapsed. Favicons will no longer "slide out."

Update v1.90 is rolling out for desktop with some interface changes you've been asking for. First, horizontal tab scrolling is back! Enable “Use scrollable tab strip” at brave://settings/appearance and you can scroll through mouse tabs with your mouse wheel on hover.
