@heynottheface @jonfitchdotnet I do not. But after speaking to Lawrence, they indicated it wouldn’t be an issue (my gut told me at least for the time being). I remember there was an issue over Babalu as well.

@heynottheface The guy is giving it his best effort, have to give him that. But I finally figured out who he looks like with the half beard thing.

Luke Thomas Gets Political (LTGP)
I'd like all the MMA accounts that came after me when I said those in attendance for this event would be only from the KPMG-Deloitte/McLean to Rosslyn corridor to formally apologize to me here. MMA is full of so many low IQ dipshits who can't think past stage one.

@FrontRowBrian @grok Not a bad summary. But there’s much more sprinkled throughout the complaint. And Keane’s main lawyer died mysteriously a few months back. It’s an unusual firm to be handling a case in combat sports.

Via @grok, a summary of the lawsuit against Top Rank by boxing recruiter/fixer Billy Keane. Key points of the actual court document (William Keane v. Top Rank, Inc. & Todd DuBoef, C.D. Cal., filed Feb 2025) Parties • Plaintiff: William Keane — longtime LA-based boxing recruiter, “fixer,” and talent scout. • Defendants: Top Rank, Inc. (the major promoter) and Todd DuBoef (its president, Bob Arum’s stepson). Core Allegations • Keane had oral agreements (later ratified in writing) to recruit top fighters so Top Rank could fulfill and extend its lucrative ESPN media-rights deal. • 2018 deal with Bob Arum: 10% commission on Top Rank’s share of fighter earnings. • 2019 deal with DuBoef: reduced to 5% in exchange for explicit promises that Keane would be the primary recruiter, get more volume, enjoy a long-term “partnership,” and be paid promptly (reverting to 10% if breached). • Keane delivered: signed Tyson Fury (multiple bouts including vs. Whyte, Chisora, Ngannou, Usyk), Amir Khan, Josh Taylor, and others; smoothed ESPN relations; fixed purse-bid, lawsuit, and other problems; covered international travel. What Keane claims DuBoef did wrong • Never paid the agreed commissions on numerous major fights. • Made false promises to trick Keane into accepting the lower 5% rate (promissory fraud). • Allegedly used Keane for sensitive “fixing” work (including dealings tied to Daniel Kinahan) while hoarding cash and failing to honor the deal. • Additional claims of racist remarks that hurt signings. Legal Claims (6 causes of action) 1. Breach of contract 2. Breach of implied covenant of good faith 3. Promissory fraud (punitive damages sought) 4. Quantum meruit 5. Unjust enrichment 6. Accounting Damages demanded More than $25 million in unpaid commissions + interest, plus punitive damages and a full accounting of all relevant fight purses.

@FrontRowBrian I think, sort of. ESPN had enough of TR at $90M a year and the Keane/Kinahan connection. But the girls boxing is prob more about another deal - a reality boxing show for the brothers with ABC (that’s based on someone else’s concept…)

Because ESPN selected girls boxing over Top Rank. They know Bob and Todd’s M.O. get as big a budget as possible from a broadcaster and skim as much as possible off the top for themselves while never reinvesting in their product. 5 years later, they wonder why they suck.

@bobby_s_axelrod @PFLMMA Couldn’t roll up the sleeves on a sport coat I guess. I hope the company’s views on fighters emanating from all places in the World changes.

@FrontRowBrian I’m surprised they let DuBoef speak at all. That lawsuit with Billy Keane is really heating up.

@FrontRowBrian Well, they did roll together while shooting a magazine article in the summer of ‘08. There was maybe 10 people there.

It was awesome. I’ve been around the sport for 20 years and the affliction v UFC era was my favorite. Imagine if Randy v Fedor actually happened?
Hellblazer@immyaxl

@FrontRowBrian I bought both Affliction PPV’s. What an incredible time in the sport & to be a fan. Those days are long gone.

Purses will probably be understated to avoid CA state income taxes. True cost likely won’t be known.
Mixtape OG@MixTapeOG

@FrontRowBrian These people think Views = revenue.. how many monthly subscribers will Netflix need to add to even come close to making a profit? Interesting to Note, this card is in California.. all purses will be disclosed 🎯💯
