This is Colonel Rajesh Pawar (Retired). Recently, during a podcast, he claimed that the 'Sarva Dharma Sthal' was established within Army cantonments merely to facilitate promotions and garner fame for senior officers. Oh, you fool! Do you not realize that people of all faiths reside in India and that the Army comprises regiments representing various religious backgrounds? For Example The JAKLI and JAK RIF Regiments, the soldiers are predominantly Muslim; yet, even in those regiments, there is no mosque-only a 'Sarva Dharma Sthal.' The Madras Regiment - Where the soldiers are Christian - there is no church, but rather a 'Sarva Dharma Sthal.' Similarly, The Sikh Regiment there is no Gurudwara, but a 'Sarva Dharma Sthal.' And - most notably - in your own 19 RAJ RIF where the entire unit consists of Hindus, there is no temple; instead, there stands a 'Sarva Dharma Sthal.' As the saying goes, the Commanding Officer is the true 'King' of his unit. Instead of spouting this nonsense here, why didn't you raise these questions while you were still in the service - specifically, why the name of your unit's most sacred shrine wasn't changed back then? After all, during your service, you were working for the country. Now that your resettlement hasn't worked out, you are undermining the very national army that brought you to the position you hold today; in other words, you are biting the very hand that fed you. (Lets use Navy submarines to take answer sheets for scanning and upload to servers for OSM) Jai ho sarkar!

Meet Lt Col Jyoti Mohan Sen (also recorded as Jyotindra Nath Sen) CO, 5 JAT Regiment. In 1959, in Amritsar an event involving officers of the 5th JAT Regiment became a lasting lesson in leadership, unit honour and the protection of family dignity. A group of army officers had gone to the railway station with their wives to see off a colleague. While there a gang of local rowdies began making obscene remarks and attempted to molest the officers’ wives. Outraged, the officers pursued the assailants as they fled into a nearby cinema and hid inside. When Lt Col Sen was informed, he acted decisively. He ordered his men to surround the cinema and move in. Soldiers entered, dragged the troublemakers out and identified their leader reportedly the son of Pratap Singh Kairon then Chief Minister of Punjab. To punish the humiliation of the officers’ families and to make a public statement, the men were stripped to their undergarments paraded through the streets of Amritsar and subsequently taken into custody in the cantonment. The incident provoked a major political storm. Chief Minister Kairon was furious and personally demanded his son’s release even attempting to enter the cantonment in a VIP car. The controversy escalated to Parliament where Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru sought an explanation from Army leadership. General K. S. Thimayya - then the Army Chief answered with what has become a legendary retort: “If we cannot defend the honour of our women, how can you expect us to defend the honour of our country?” That blunt principled response effectively closed the argument. No punitive action was taken against Lt Col Sen or his battalion; on the contrary Thimayya later praised Sen’s courage and decisiveness. It is still regarded in the Army today as an example of the Honor Code. @adgpi @PMOIndia @Hardisohi @jai_samota @san_x_m @Warrior_Mukul @major_pawan @SamarWatch #IndianArmy
