Yesterday, I heard from organizations across MA-01 that provide critical mental health and addiction treatment, all scrambling after the Trump administration abruptly cut funding. A day later, the administration quietly reversed this decision after public backlash. As millions of Americans are losing their health care, these reckless cuts would have further weakened our nation's health care system, putting lives at risk. This should have never happened in the first place.

Alongside fellow leaders on mental health and addiction treatment, I'm leading nearly 100 bipartisan Members of Congress demanding the immediate reversal of the Trump Administration’s decision to defund SAMHSA grants that support lifesaving care in our communities.

Within 24 hours, the Trump administration reversed its decision to rip away $2 billion for mental health and addiction services.   That's because of you, the American people. You made your voices heard.    This is how we fight back.

On Tuesday evening, the federal government abruptly cut funding of up to $2 billion for suicide prevention, mental health, and substance abuse services. On Wednesday evening, the funding was reinstated. Suicide prevention is more than crisis services.
