Why is software testing still this manual in 2026? A few weeks ago, as we were preparing to scale Yuba to a larger pool of customers, I had the task of load, soak, and stress testing the platform to make sure it could handle the number of users we were expecting. I did my research, picked the testing framework that made the most sense, and got to work. At first, I thought having Codex/Claude in my toolkit would make this a few-days job. We had around 600 endpoints to be tested. Yes, it might sound like a lot, but Yuba is a comprehensive suite. I thought the coding agents would help me extract the endpoints, understand the request and response bodies, outline the required query parameters, follow the endpoint sequence, generate the right payloads, and help me create proper test scripts. But I was wrong. Even with a detailed, sequential, and well-structured prompt, they struggled to correctly extract the request bodies, response bodies, query params, and endpoint flows. They could not reliably hold context for even 5 endpoints in a row. So I had to manually define the request bodies, response bodies, query params, auth flow, and endpoint sequence for each major flow myself. What I thought would take a few days ended up taking almost 2 weeks. And it made me seriously wonder: Why isn’t there a better way to do this? With all the progress in AI and dev tooling, why does backend testing still feel so manual, repetitive, and fragile? And even more importantly, how are no-code builders testing the products they are shipping?
