We're delighted to see that the Court’s reasons in this important decision about family violence reflect the very capable arguments made by the venerable Claire Hunter QC & our very own Diana Sepúlveda on behalf of our friends at @WestCoast_LEAF & @RiseWomensLegal. Well done all!

Very proud of my law buddy, Jinjae Jeong, for winning the Spirit of the Moot Award. He’s a person of such excellent character - I’m so looking forward to seeing where your career will go, Jinjae, and everything you’ll contribute to the law and our BIPOC community.

Hey #lawtwitter #Canada, I can’t get excited about finding articles. I’m a strategic designer and recent grad from UVic law, with a ton of professional experience— I’m looking for an innovative firm or principal, someone who thinks differently about law. Any leads?

@SaanichtonM @UBCIC @HarshaWalia @bccla Are you comparing corporal punishment with being stolen from your parents, starved, abused, punished for speaking your language, and being systemically disenfranchised by a nation-wide program set up to discriminate against your people? Not a good look @SaanichtonM.

@UBCIC @HarshaWalia @bccla Both my white grandfathers (WW2 Vets who defended freedom of all Natives and Canadians) reported being strapped so hard in Canadian government public schools, they were marred and bruised! That was the culture back then. So we need context as well.

This footage in CBC Archives is 30-min film called The Eyes of Children, purporting to capture life at Kamloops Indian Residential School in 1962. I've watched many times, for use in docs about residential schools. Never ceases to trouble me cbc.ca/archives/entry… #215children

@kennyhildebrand I didn't connect with the first gen label until recently for this reason but wish I had. I get your point but it makes the assumption that educated parents are well situated enough to transfer knowledge. My parents have degrees but they're immigrants. It's a different ballgame.
