@RezaNasri1 Not so much that Israel can feel safe, as that they're then defenceless, and so Israel can attack them at will without any risk of being hit back.

The idea that every sovereign country near Israel must cap its conventional weapons, limit its defensive capabilities, restrict missile and fighter jet ranges, and even dismantle its own military industries—just so Israel can "feel safe"—is completely absurd. Which other nation on Earth demands and receives this kind of privilege? This exceptionalism is especially ridiculous coming from a regime with such an inherently aggressive posture and track record in the region.

Reminder: The Democrats are not an opposition party. Their function is to sell the illusion of democracy and cover up the truth, which is that the US is a dictatorship of capital where every aspect of society from the government to the economy is controlled by and for the rich.

@imetatronink @trenddaytrader Ultimately the US will have no choice but to walk away, but in the immediate term it will double-down and roll the dice. To admit defeat is to acquiesce to the end of the US Empire, and the US Empire will never do that, so escalation it will be until the US hits a physical limit.

@trenddaytrader The USA will have no choice but to walk away and leave the Gulf Sheikdoms and Israel to the mercy of Iranian missiles. Iran is the dominant power in the region, and will remain so into the foreseeable future. The Gulf Sheikdoms will revert to riding camels and sleeping in tents.

USS Gerald Ford. Why did the most expensive warship ever made "run away" in the middle of a war? They are still assessing "the reliability of key systems such as aircraft launch and recovery, radar performance, weapons elevators and the ship’s ability to sustain operations under enemy attack." msn.com/en-in/news/wor…

So far Israel and the USA have completely destroyed over 600 schools in Iran. Which puts the "targeting mistake" of killing the 170 schoolgirls in perspective.

BREAKING: 🇺🇸🇮🇷 Many of Trump’s remaining options in Iran risk heavy casualties with dubious chances of success - CNN President Trump is weighing major escalation options against Iran if diplomacy fails, though none are seen as ideal, CNN reports. Beyond ongoing airstrikes, Pentagon officials are preparing scenarios involving ground forces to seize key targets inside Iran, including islands in the Strait of Hormuz and potentially securing enriched uranium. One option under consideration is capturing Kharg Island, which some White House officials believe could financially cripple the IRGC. Such operations would likely require large troop deployments, carry heavy casualty risks, and still may not succeed in ending the conflict.

How the US Became an International Serial Killer by Medea Benjamin and Nicolas J S Davies ‘From covert plots to overt “targeted killings,” US policy has evolved into a doctrine of normalized assassination—now reaching a perilous peak in the escalating conflict with Iran. The killing of senior Iranian officials, including potential negotiators, signals a deliberate abandonment of diplomacy in favor of perpetual war. As civilian casualties mount and international law is cast aside, the pattern reveals a system where impunity reigns and accountability vanishes. This trajectory not only destabilizes regions but erodes the global order itself. The question now is stark: can the US abandon violence, or will it drag the world toward irreversible catastrophe?’ countercurrents.org/2026/03/how-th…

The Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) chief of staff has warned the military is “going to collapse in on itself” unless the country forces more people to enlist. Eyal Zamir made the claim during a cabinet security meeting, Israel’s Channel 13 reported on Thursday. “Right now, the IDF needs a conscription law, a reserve duty law, and a law to extend mandatory service,” the channel quoted him as saying. “Before long, the IDF will not be ready for its routine missions and the reserve system will not last.” Israel has compulsory military service for a majority of citizens, but Haredi – or ultra-Orthodox – Jews are among those who are exempt. A draft bill aimed at ending this exemption has ignited widespread controversy. After two and a half years of carrying out a genocide in Gaza, large numbers of IDF troops are reportedly exhausted amid reports of thousands suffering from severe PTSD. The IDF is now fighting on multiple fronts. Shortly after launching the illegal and unprovoked war on Iran in late February, it also illegally invaded Lebanon to seize more land there. Hezbollah forces have reportedly mounted fierce resistance – and say they have destroyed ten invading tanks in two ambushes. Oxfam said earlier this week that Israel is attacking water infrastructure in Lebanon, repeating a genocidal tactic it used in Gaza.

@Megatron_ron Aircraft carriers were already out-of-date by the end of WW2. They persisted as symbols of US power throughout the post-war period because the US faced no adversary capable of threatening one. However, in the era of hypersonic missiles, US carriers are just big fat targets.

About a year ago, I asked "when does the US realist position become withdrawal from Asia, as well as the Middle East and Europe?" I was talking about the prioritisers (I think a category invented by Tanner Greer), who believed that China had become so powerful that the US would have to withdraw from the Middle East and Asia to focus the entirety of their power on holding their defensive line in the Western Pacific against China. I agreed with this. I thought that the counter-argument, that the US could 'walk and chew gum at the same time', or that it would be able to somehow sequence attacks, first taking out Russia through Ukraine, then Iran, before swinging around for an isolated China were ignorant and glib. Yet, looking at the manifest strength of China and the repeated missteps taken by the US (Ukraine, Yemen I and II, and supporting Israel in the 12-Day War), I asked how long it would be before the Realist position was that the US should not even attempt to defend its position in the Western Pacific; how long before the best thing for it to do was to re-constitute a proper Monroe Doctrine that used carrots (noticeably absent) as well as the sticks Mr Trump enjoys wielding? The Iran War has shown beyond reasonable doubt that the time is now.👇👇👇👇👇

I will argue in a forthcoming Substack piece that the only appropriate grand-strategy for the United States now is hemispheric defense. Dissolve Nato, help the EU build out a real combined arms military under unified command, leave the old world and establish a new, more defendable defense perimeter along the meridians passing through Hawaii and Bermuda. The decision in the gulf has revealed that deterrence in Asia is dead. Trying to maintain a militarily undefendable position in Asia is a recipe for an even greater military humiliation than the one we have just suffered at the hands of what is a decidedly lesser great power. We can defend this position indefinitely and at tolerable cost. But the great advantage of the grand-strategy of hemispheric defense is that by losing the empire we may be able to rebuild democracy at home. More on the Substack soon, perhaps tomorrow. At this rate, Donald Trump is going to wind up accidentally solving climate change by forcing the world to scramble to roll out renewables in order to deal with the fact it will take years to get back to previous oil production levels
