🎉 IT’S OFFICIAL: HB 149 / SB 136 has passed the VA General Assembly. Now it heads to @SpanbergerForVA's desk to be signed into law. If signed, this bill creates a clear path to early termination for people who have worked hard and done everything right while on probation—complied with the conditions of their supervision, maintained employment, completed treatment, and demonstrated they are not a public safety risk to the community. When I moved to New York, someone asked me if I had ever seen snow after I told them I was from California. I answered that sometimes we would “go to the snow” when I was a kid. I realized talking about the snow as a place must sound odd to people who aren’t from this region.
