Many parts of the world are experiencing record-breaking temperatures and severe heatwaves. Heatwaves aren’t just getting more frequent; they are getting hotter. Extreme heat is a silent yet formidable adversary that, without action, will kill thousands in the coming years. To draw attention to this silent killer, the IFRC co-hosted the first-ever Global Summit on Extreme Heat with @USAID in late March 2024. Extreme heat presents a significant challenge, but it is not insurmountable if we join forces for action.
