Would you give Walker a 300 million dollar contract today #STLCards
English

@DanTheSTLCards1 @StlMac_ This is such a lame take. Go back to watching WWE lmao
English

@StlMac_ Yeah let’s all cheer and sing kumbaya because Walker won a home run derby. This first half was an anomaly. He’ll comeback down to earth eventually. He’s really not that good
English

I’ve taken so much shit on this platform for supporting Walker when things were dark, seeing everybody change their tune and recognize Walker is our cornerstone has me so happy! Let’s all continue rooting for our guy instead of shitting on him year after year. J Walk has done something no cardinal has ever done, proud of you my man!
English

This is probably the lamest and least informed take of all time. It’s not a great field? What are you talking about. This guy is a moron
The Dan Le Batard Show@LeBatardShow
Back in Greg Cote's day you had to be an actual home run hitter to make the home run derby
English

Hate the #STLCards if you want, but trashing the uniforms is so dumb 😂 they have a top 3 uniform kit in the sport

Goofy takes

@bishopcurtis5 I don't think Walker is taking that kind of deal. He's closer to FA and his power gives him a ceiling that JJ doesn't have offensively. I don't think he's signing for under 230? I'm not sure though. He's also so young, which makes things more complicated
English

@SandyMac718 300? Probably not. The issue is, its going to cost more because its buying out more free agent years. Would he maybe take 6 years/150? Buys out what, 3 years of FA?
English

@Greegs99 It’s gonna be so funny when they boo him and he goes yard again
English

@SandyMac718 I’m ready for Walker’s first game back in Philly on August 21. 😂
English

I can’t believe I don’t get to watch the #STLCards until Friday 😭
English

I'm not saying teams use OPS to evaluate players. OPS is an incredibly basic stat that's useful for fans. It's a pretty good measure of how a player is performing at a given moment though.
I think teams care about zone whiff percentage, bat speed, xwOBA and xwOBACON, attack angle, chase rate, and exit velocity. But making that jump in this particular conversation was going to be impossible.
English

@SandyMac718 I’d be shocked if teams cared about OPS. It doesn’t evaluate anything specific. I get that it meant something 25 years ago, but adding two stats that tell you something and aren’t very related doesn’t do much. Batting average is obviously worse, but I can’t imagine a team using
English

@iowaneck Yeah. Savacool seems the least likely to land in an MLB org. Gonna have to go to indy ball now
English

@SandyMac718 In a way feel sorry for Savacool, he got pulled up to Memphis when they were shorthanded & did the shuffle from Memphis & Peoria a couple times, then gets shown the door, but he hadn’t been good at Peoria.
Agree on Koperniak & Rivas, thought Rivas would get more time
English

I’m really sad for these guys. I really thought Koperniak would get a big league debut at some point with the #STLCards. I believe he had earned that opportunity. This was unfortunately a serious down year. I think the strong AAA track record does get him another opportunity.
I’m sad for Rivas too. At 23 he was having a decent offensive year, and I figured he had another year in the system. I’m sure he gets a shot elsewhere.
After some promising stretches as recently as last year, it’s over for Jason Savacool too. At 24, he probably needed to be finding success beyond A ball. Regardless, teams always need pitching depth.
Madris is two years removed from his last MLB appearance - and he was playing well. Wouldn’t be shocked if he comes stateside again and gets a chance in the future.
Redbird Farmhands@RedbirdFarmhand
The Cardinals have started their process of bringing in the new draftees with some releases of players SS Jeremy Rivas OF Matt Koperniak RHP Jason Savacool Bligh Madris was also sent to the KBO for cash.
English

@Guy25Rando12987 Semantics. Who would you rather have on your team? Who is the overall more productive piece?
English

@SandyMac718 Yes. A batter who bats .330 is objectively a better hitter than a guy who bats .250 but may not be as powerful. Schwarber versus Arraez is a prime example. Arraez is a better hitter, Schwarber a better power hitter. Yordon Alvarez is the best all around hitter: avg+power
English
Sandy McMillan retweetledi

@iowaneck Yeah but most teams will trim worse players than Koperniak. Rivas is young enough that he’ll get a chance I bet. Savacool idk it’s tough to see him getting a shot
English

@SandyMac718 Bad thing, every MLB team will be trimming to make room for draftees so won’t be many spots available, might have to go the Indy ball route
English

@CardinalsYoshi Insane receipt but I had this thought immediately
English

@RedbirdFarmhand Can we use the money from the Ritchie pick on Freshcorn?
English

@chadman_hardin And one that doesn’t have the depth we have
English

@SandyMac718 They get picked up by a team that didn’t absolutely crush the draft like us.
