Spirit filed for bankruptcy twice, the Biden administration blocked the JetBlue merger, and the Trump administration offered $500 million in support. This is what happens when a socialist mindset blocks solutions, then blames someone else when the company falls apart.

The airline itself and industry reporting both point to soaring fuel prices tied directly to the Iran war as a primary cause of the collapse. This was so severe that Spirit is being described as the first airline casualty of that war-driven fuel spike. Now add reality on top of that. Spirit was already financially weak, no profits for years, multiple bankruptcies, thin margins. When fuel doubled, that wasn’t a headwind, it was a death sentence. Yes, the blocked JetBlue merger mattered, but pretending that’s the main cause is lazy.
