Masoud Barzani has also remained out of sight, though he has posted unrelated condolence messages on social media. Nechirvan Barzani, meanwhile, spoke by phone yesterday with Syria’s foreign minister. Bafel Talabani yesterday appeared in Baghdad for a meeting with Iraqi leaders and issued a separate statement calling for Kurdish unity, especially with the KDP, to protect Kurdistan and Iraq and keep them “distanced from the war.”
