Laugh all you want but I remember when my job in working an influencer marketing didn't exist and was mocked by other marketers. And now it's 20 to 30% of every global marketing budget I've been a part of. They mocked degrees in video game design They mocked degrees in social media comms They mocked degrees in entertainment All of those professions I'll bring in over six figures.

Ok tech friends, I need suggestions. My go to laptop brand seems to have reduced offerings other than $5,000 laptops which is overkill. Aiming for something with a nvidia gpu, i7 or better, 32+ gigs of ram, 17 inch screen. What brands are you happy with currently?

@LordElandrian I will have to take a look at the legion line and see what things are looking like on that end of the world. There was a time where the quality on them had been pretty hit or miss so I have strayed away from them for a while. But, it is good to hear they are coming back around.

@SantaDevs My most recent snags have been a MSI Pulse and Lenovo Legion laptops. (Loving both) Was able to upgrade the Lenovo to 64 GB RAM right before the pricing chaos, but they're not insanely expensive, but they're 15 and 16 inch screens. Paid $1300 for the laptop + ram upgrade.

@Aiervon I was 30% of sales for a staples store for 3 months straight, I asked for commission or a raise. They said no, I walked out. About a month later 3 of the 4 managers were arrested for stealing cash and 6 figures worth of batteries.

When I worked at Fry’s Electronics, I left for lunch, and just went to a movie since it was next door. Never went back.

There's a lot of these conversations going around right now & I'm just picking this thread from Shawn to add my $0.02. Credibility: I've been on every side of a creator deal now. Creators (& their agents) get a ton of "this might be cool for you" offers in their inboxes. Even if the offer is absolutely perfect the sheer volume that goes into folks inboxes is insane. When I was doing outreach for game devs, I'd chat with the talent managers I was more friendly with they'd see 30+ emails a day going into Steam Next Fest. I'm now on the creator management side of things & it is just impossible to meaningfully respond to everything that comes into the inbox. So you create mental filter of things — - quality of outreach - known previous interest - is it paid? And yes, you're going to reply back with information on sponsoring because that's your role... helping them get sponsorships. There are great managers and there are shitty managers but I think there is a great misconception going around that just because you can't get through to a creator it means their agent is hiding themselves from them. Most creators don't care that much about things they aren't paid for — and it isn't worth their limited time to do so most of the time. & it should go without saying you should know what is going on with your business as a creator.

Last year, Microsoft made $101 billion in profits, got a $12.5 billion tax break from Trump & paid its CEO $96 million. This year, it’s raising the price of an Xbox by $150 & eliminating 3,200 jobs. Please don’t tell me corporate tax breaks create jobs. It never trickles down.
