Do not walk around at night anywhere. Do not leave anything in a car. Don’t take any public transportation. Walk with someone. And you’ll be OK.
For more than two decades, the American medical establishment turned its back on women. Millions of women were told to fear the very therapy that could have given them strength, peace, and dignity through one of life’s most difficult transitions—menopause. That ends today. The @US_FDA is initiating the removal of broad “black box” warnings from hormone replacement therapy products for menopause.
Someday, science will help us slow or reverse all the damage of aging. A good safe way to address estrogen depletion already exists, and today we are removing a barrier to this treatment. Many more women can reduce their risk of fracture, heart disease, and immune and cognitive decline while extending their vigor. Women who initiate hormone replacement therapy (HRT) before age 60 cut heart disease and mortality by up to 50%. Starting earlier provides even greater benefits. HRT also prevents depression, dementia, diabetes and restores well-being. Every one of the 55 million American women who are in or entering menopause can benefit from the correct information and from HRT. In a major advance for women’s health, @SecKennedy @DrMakaryFDA are initiating the removal of a black box warning on HRT that caused dismay and confusion among doctors and women. Today, we are restoring truth to medicine and Making America Healthy Again.
