I'm heartbroken to share the news that we lost our beautiful Laura in the early hours of this morning. She was fierce & tenacious to the end & it was truly the honour of my life to be her mum. We are devastated at the thought of life without our girl, she was a force of nature💔

The curtain’s half closed but the window’s open & we feel the breeze & hear the birds Laura breathes in & breathes out. When the gap gets long I hold my breath but she’s as tenacious in death as she was in life, despite a week without food or water. We hold hands & she squeezes❤️

I’m not an #Eastenders regular, but it’s painful to watch Lola’s story mirroring our own. Sadly Laura is nowhere near as well as LoIa now. I wish this was just a tv storyline for us but brain tumours kill more children & adults <40 than any other cancer @BrainTumourOrg #GBM

Laura’s had little more than a few ice chips since Thursday but still she fights. She’s not in pain & the syringe driver has controlled the seizures so we keep her comfortable, hold her hand & wait. We’ve told her that she doesn’t need to fight, she can rest whenever she’s ready.

My final Arts Awards Dinner was very special and in places quite moving too. I will really miss evenings like this and the buzz which the pupils get from it. Dancing to the Wurzels was also an awful lot of fun!

Watching someone you love lose every aspect of themselves is absolute torture. Walking, speech & even swallowing is beyond Laura now. My beautiful, kind & clever girl is in there somewhere & I miss her with all my heart. #Glioblastoma is so unbelievably cruel. @ourbrainbank

During the bedtime routine, we used to take turns laying on the floor beside his bed, holding our Sons hand when he was a toddler, waiting until he fell asleep. He would always ask us to tell him a story whilst we lay there. "Powiadamy" he would say, and we'd talk about what we done that day & about him. Always positive! It was such a beautiful time and as tiring as it sometimes was, I loved every minute of it 😊 Years later and every night, one of us would sit on the end of his bed until he falls asleep! One day it may stop, but today is not that day and I love every minute of it! 😊❤🙏

When I put my 18 month old son to bed, I say "I'll be back in a minute" as I leave, he settles better than if I say goodnight. Truth is I'm wracked with guilt for lying every time which is daft as I spend the rest of the evening watching him on the monitor. Daddy loves you bud x

@KirstieMAllsopp Whilst all we measure is retention and recall it really excludes people like my darling son who has slight short-term memory issues. Who hasn’t gone to university but has set up his own videography and social media content business from scratch. I couldn’t be more proud of him.

Many wise people think we should scrap GCSEs, very few other countries put this kind of pressure on 15/16 year olds. In the end it’s far more about your A-levels, and even then it’s not the end of the world if they go wrong. Never, never let exam pressure damage your child.
