Social skills groups have "null effect" despite being the most used social skills interventions for Autistic children/yp. #Ableism #Discrimination Autistic social skills are valid and effective. Focus on building acceptance of diversity in communication styles instead.

Autism and ADHD Book Guide - for children and young people! 📚 Many of these books have been a source of comfort for me, and I hope they may be just as valuable for someone else too. Note: I have done my best to check the suitability of these books for different ages, but if purchasing for a child or young person, please research yourself to confirm it is appropriate for their age and understanding.

This is not a problem that should be blamed on children or families, or teachers. We are clearly getting it fundamentally wrong for HUGE numbers of young people who will create our future. I wonder what we are creating here? #stopthefines Howabout listening instead?

So often families (usually Mothers) fight to keep support and services use inappropriate and traumatic ways of NOT providing what is needed and has been legally agreed. Ella was so scared & not listened to. It should have been about what she needs. #parentblame

‘Joey’ ink on paper / airbrush. Keeping eye contact is painful for some autistic people, I often find that the only true eye to eye contact I hold is through the mutual gaze of those I am painting. I see the soul but it doesn’t see me. #AutismAwareness @AnnaKennedy1 @lemnsissay
